Vandal Carves Blair Insult on Commons Table
The Despatch Box and table where the Prime Minister answers questions in the Commons are to be covered in Perspex when the House is not sitting following the carving of an obscene message there this week, it emerged today.

A vandal, believed to have been among a party of sightseers, managed to etch the words “Tony Blair is a c***” into the wooden table on Wednesday without being spotted.

Conservative MP Derek Conway, who is chairman of the Commons Works Committee, said: “Furniture polishers were brought in straight away and the message was removed shortly before the Prime Minister’s question session started.”

But he said that this incident was not going to dramatically alter the way in which visitors go round the Chamber.

1. Did he actually scratch asterisks into the table?

Or did it actually say "Tony Blair is a cunt". If so then that is a tremendous insult to cunts all around the world.

7. See that would be funny
Actually scratching asterisks would be brilliant. Think about it: "The insult was left up for the public to interpret"

4. I must admit
The thought of Tony going out to face the opposition, stacking his cards on the table only to see that carved on the table makes me smile quite a lot. I think it was a great prank. I'm really pissed it got caught before he saw it.

6. very historic!
I hope they preserve the inscription for posterity. My dad has a bunch of hand-me-down British schoolbooks from the Edwardian era that have rude caricatures of "Kaiser Bill" drawn by the children, almost 90 years ago.
