Huge terror bomb found near U.S. consulate in Pakistan
KARACHI, Pakistan - Explosive experts on Monday defused a bomb in a van parked next to the heavily guarded U.S. Consulate in this southern Pakistani city, sparing the building from "big destruction," police said.

The thwarted attack came just two days ahead of a scheduled visit to Pakistan by Secretary of State Colin Powell. He was due to arrive in the country on Wednesday, but was not scheduled to visit Karachi.

It was not immediately clear who planted the device, though Islamic extremist groups have repeatedly targeted Westerners and minority Christians since the government threw its support behind the U.S.-led war on terrorism.

4. A *terror* bomb!?
Not finding fault with the poster here, but with the headline writer at the Daily News.

How freaking Orwellian.

The bomb was made up of explosives -- not terror. Terror is a concept, not a thing. And what makes a "terror bomb" different from a "bomb"?

Crap like this starts my day on an entirely wrong foot.

5. As of press time the type of explosive was undetermined
200 gallons of some liquid.

Hmmmm. I wonder if it was gasoline.

7. I thought the same thing.
I wonder if there is some other kind of bomb? You know, a 'non-terror' bomb. A bomb which doesn't spread death and fear.

11. Easy, Newsjock......
Common knowledge indicates that "terror" (bad) only comes from mis-led poor people. However, when our lie-house facillitates human death & suffering with a "humane smart bomb", well, that's not sooo bad.... Atleast we did it to the evil-doers with high technology!

8. What a terrible job to have to go in a try to defuse a bomb!
We need a World Constitutional Amendament
#666 - World Leaders are delated the only authorized persons to defuse bombs

I bet the world would honey-up really fast!

10. I wonder if it was a publicity stunt? I'd like to see the details of who
how, what method, what type of bomb, how long did it take to defuse, who exactly defused it, what protection gear used, who walked up to the bomb...

Aaaaa, these things are all cell phone trickered. Who would walk up to one unless they knew it wouldn't go off?
