'Old Europe' Seen Quietly Rooting for Kerry
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040315/pl_nm/campaign_kerry_europe_dc&cid=615&ncid=2043

BERLIN (Reuters) - John Kerry (news - web sites) refuses to reveal the identities of foreign leaders he says are hoping he beats George W. Bush, but the list of admirers may include "old Europe" leaders alienated by the U.S. president's policies.

Even though no European leader has gone on record endorsing Kerry over Bush in the U.S. presidential election, analysts say many Western governments and their citizens are rooting from the sidelines for Kerry with unaccustomed zeal.

"You can probably find a lot of top people in governments across Europe very much hoping Kerry will win," said Peter Loesche, a political scientist at Goettingen University. "Bush isn't at all liked in Germany or many places in Europe."

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and French President Jacques Chirac, who have openly clashed with Bush over Iraq (news - web sites) and felt the wrath from Washington for their opposition, could be among those hoping for a new U.S. government in November.

3. Ridiculus! Evey person I know from Europe and Asia is rooting for
Edited on Mon Mar-15-04 03:39 PM by dArKeR
for Kerry, and not quietly. Just telling the truth!

But I don't think this is neccessarily a good thing because we've got so many 'knowledgably detached' citizens which could turn this into a plus for aWol. Like, we're
Ah-no type 'renegade butchers who like everyone to hate us and we're going to kill you for it' type mentality. Hey 66% don't even bother to vote!

And it amazes me how peaceful, against violence, against war..., people, young to old, are in Asia. Why are so many Americans into killing people?

This kind of report even pisses me off more because it shows how bias or unethical the American Media Whores are! I know only about 5% of Americans have passports but probably 50% of journalists have passports. All you have to do is go overseas and any moral person would report back the above sentence. I don't care if you're in the 700 Club or a Ditto Head, if you we're moral you'd report back the above. Therefore, the above is a hard fact that could be used in court for the American Citizens vs. the America Whore Media RICO Case.

5. Because some of us in power think we're F'ing cowboys.
Edited on Mon Mar-15-04 03:41 PM by calimary
And have spent WAY too much time watching cowboy movies. Not that anybody here agrees, but the mentality of "good guy-bad guy," "white hat-black hat" "sit tall in the saddle," and other such wannae "noble" crap is absolutely out there. georgie reeks of it. And yearns for it that much more, since he'll never be able to do it in real life (askeered of horses, don'tyaknow?). Gotta play pretend and whup them varmints good, don'tyaknow?

And besides, you DON'T need a "Harvard MBA" to figure this one out. I think the posters here who point to most of the world rooting for Kerry are spot-on. I mean, you really have to ask??? Well, on second thought, the Rhodes Scholars in this administration probably do. Or they're just in denial as deep as the quagmire they've created.

6. God forgive America.
More from the article:

Kerry <snip> ...has drawn cheers across Europe for his international credentials, his language abilities and his pro-environment track record.

In France, officials warn journalists not to jump to the conclusion they are waiting for a new administration to say 'adieu' to the most anti-French administration in years. Nobody in a leading post dares to speculate on the race.

Studiously declining to pick sides, one senior official said Kerry might not be as difficult to deal with as Bush but might still be too unilateral for French taste. "He will still be American," he said, noting Washington's interests were fundamentally different from Europe's." Don't forget that the president still has many ways of creating events that work in his favor. It's a long way to the election."
</end snip>

(Bold type added.) So are we prepared for a *surprise*?

Bring it on, chickenhawks.

Driving these criminals out of our White House is the goal.

Nothing else matters.

Don't give them a way to steal an election. Don't let them accidentally lose the hard drives, don't let them make changes after the machines are certified, just don't let them!!! Rail against the computers to your local and state governments, your federal representatives.

28. I'm really glad you picked up on how ominous this is...
"Don't forget that the president still has many ways of creating events that work in his favor. It's a long way to the election."

and it's not just about elections. We all know that Western governments are perfectly capable of engineering "terrorist" bombings themselves. As we have well seen in the past few years, a few judicious bombings can change a whole lot real fast. Gee, I guess that's maybe why bombings are the favorite method of political violence for the poor and militarily weak...

(p.s.: and those to want to remain anonymous...)

your media tries to convince you of the fallacy but that doesn't surprise me at all. Martin will stand by the will of Canadians and 67% of Canadians think bush deliberately lied about the WMD. We despise the usurper.

and we can't forget Howard down in Australia either. That Bali attack sure helped make him see the light.

Okay, so now I've got 4. Who else did we forget?

Edit: Call it 4.5 with Spain, since they're about to come off the list.

26. i think the only guy that wants chimpy re-elected would be...
ariel sharon.

the rest that have been listed probably would rather see kerry. siding with bush has really hurt blair's popularity in england, and altho he's gone along with chimpy i doubt he really cares much for him.

10. Kerry's Response to McClellan Should go Something Like This:
Recently I've had talks w/ many world leaders, including (insert names here).

In the interest of diplomacy I will not reveal what was said to me in confidence, but I think the elections in Spain speak volumes about what the world thinks of leaders that support Bush and about what the world at large thinks about Bush himself.

21. The Spanish sure do
I was in Spain March 3-11th and spoke with many people. The conference
I attended consisted of Brits, French, Spanish, Germans, and Italians. To a
person they HATE bush (one asked me whether I thought the USA was
"turning into a fascist state"!). These are scientists, not wild-eyed radicals.

I mean, I found myself defending the US position on somethings just to
have something to argue about! When everyone agrees, it's no fun.

More or less the position I heard was that these people respect our position
as Superpower in the world, but they don't think things bode well for the
future if Bush wins. They know and like the American People, and are even
philosophical about benefits they receive from our gunboat diplomacy
(since THEY used to all do the same thing when they had the power). Still,
no one likes a bully, and they find themselves rooting against us just so
we can't go too far. It's a natural reaction. You're either for Manchester
United, or you're against them! I know they're a good team, I just always
root against them!

and it's the name of a WINNER !

"The Spanish opposition leader in the general election this Sunday, the socialist José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, said yesterday: "I think Kerry will win. I want Kerry to win."
