U.S. Considers U.N. Command in Iraq

The US wants to control the oil and keep their bases there permanently. The UN doesn't want them to be able to. They think that those things are up to the Iraqis.

Nothing short of Bush overthrowing the leadership at the UN is going to change this. So all of this talk of bringing the UN into Iraq is just PR bullshit that Bush is throwing out there for the papers to run with.

It's not going to happen. If he wanted it to happen, he would have made it happen before the war.

If one country is under UN command in Iraq, then they ALL should be.

for stabilizing the situation in Iraq which we helped create, let alone the oft mentioned "greater Middle East" referred to today at the White House. Dangerous waffling, dangerous mixed messages, dangerous drift in foreign policy. Dangerous grandstanding. We want the UN but we don't want them. We want democracy in Iraq but we don't want elections (yet) but will (soon). Is some one in charge? This dance is getting old.

Looks and sounds like those your oh peons are flexing muscles and rattling cages. none of those there really want to be and it looks as if Spain may be treading where others are keen to follow.
Think they know it's an election year ?

Political and economic matters would need to be under the supervision of the UN also.
