Peace protesters climb Big Ben
Sat 20 March, 2004 10:42

By Peter Griffiths

LONDON (Reuters) - Two anti-war protesters have climbed Big Ben ahead of a demonstration to mark the first anniversary of war in Iraq.

The pair unfurled a banner which read "Time for Truth" after they reached the clockface 328 feet (100 metres) above London using mountaineering equipment.

5. I knew about this story from listening to BBC radio
The world peace demonstrations were the top story overnight.
Somehow I doubt that will be the case in the US.

7. First I have heard about it.
I have been deep into Bush and Powell buying off Pakistan with NATO and arms and letting them die for us in this new fight.

12. We indeed
Some of us even sit on our laurels and surf the web while the real heroes protest those that are shooting fish in a barrel.

20. I agree... I do wish they had employed a larger banner.
But my absolute kudos to them!

Remember the Sydney Opera House, this time last year?

11. Heroric, to say the least

Anti-war demonstrators take a rest as they climb to the clockface of St. Stephen's Tower, commonly known as Big Ben, part of the Houses of Parliament in London, Saturday March 20, 2004, on the first anniversary of the second U.S.-led war in Iraq (news - web sites). A large anti-war march was also being held in central London. (AP Photo/John D McHugh)

18. Cool Britannia
The Brits rule when it comes to demos and protests.
Two million turned out at last year's anti war demo!
The pulling-down of the Bush/ Blair effigy this year was brilliant.

And now this ...

Its fantastic!
