Former Sen. Mack withdraws as Crist campaign chair
Source: Miami Herald

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Gov. Charlie Crist's political mentor, former U.S. Sen. Connie Mack, resigned Thursday as Crist's campaign chairman in his race for the U.S. Senate.
Mack wrote a terse, two-paragraph letter to his one-time protege that said Crist was wrong to veto a bill (SB 6) that would have made it easier to fire teachers and tie their pay to student test scores.
"As you know, I strongly disagree with your veto," Mack wrote his fellow Republican. "Your veto I believe undermines our education system in Florida and the principles for which I have always stood."
Mack went on to say that Crist's decision to veto the bill was "unsupportable and wrong."

Sounds like someone wants to campaign for Rubio and sees the writing on the wall about Crist.

3. If Crist goes Independent, he can win in November.
Rubio is a little fascist, and Meeks is out of his league. There's a big middle in both parties in Florida.

5. +1...another possibility
..Crist could pull a Specter and switch parties. Yes, he'd be a blue dog, but like you say, Meeks isn't ready for prime time yet. If Crist switched, I'm sure Meeks could be convinced to step aside.

6. From what I've studied of Crist, I really doubt that will happen.
My money's on him switching to an 'I' and taking his chances on the rim.

14. He's got too much Chafee in him
Chafee should have changed parties when it became clear he wasn't welcome

Crist is kind of like my friends who are Catholic and un-welcome in the Church (except for their money) he's too tied to the party he has always belonged to

8. Exactly why FL is a microcosm of the US...
there IS such a big middle here, but the republican party has been hijacked by extremists and people are just now figuring it out. WTH, they put them there! George Carlin would have a few choice words for them now, LOL!

Alex Sink really needs to tap into the grassroots movement which happened this week and ride it into the governorship.

12. Connie Macks grandfather ran the Phildelphia Athletics into the
ground by squeezing every penny out of his franchise.

Loyalty is not a strong trait in the Mack gene pool...

If he thinks this undermines Florida's education system and Jeb's doesn't he's a dink
