Afghan war is unwinnable and we should not be there, say [UK] voters
Source: The Independent

The vast majority of voters are hostile to the war in Afghanistan and believe the political parties are failing to give voice to their opposition, a new poll has discovered ahead of the televised leaders' debate on foreign affairs tomorrow.

The ComRes survey for The Independent and ITV News finds that nearly three-quarters of electors view the conflict as "unwinnable" and more than half say they do not understand why British troops are still in Afghanistan.

As seems to be routine is western "democracies", the opposition of the public to a war has no discernable effect on the policies of the mainstream political parties in the UK, all of which support a war which voters view as unwinnable and incomprehensible.

Seriously, why does this always happen? Why is it impossible for voters to stop war? And since it is impossible for voters to stop a war, what the fuck good is our so-called "democracy"?

3. Deprogram Fox viewers? I don't know if there is a way
From what I've heard elsewhere, the folks on the right rely on the primitive "reptile" portions of their brain that sees things in black or white, fight or flight. They don't or can't allow their more evolved portions of the brain to think for themselves using logic, reason or shades of grey as it would lead them to cognitive dissonance - like trying to teach a life-long Christian or Muslim about Atheism...

4. We don't vote on wars
They just happen, and there's no stopping them. Let the looters and profiteers make their pile of money for providing logistical and support services, and they'll tell you when they're done grabbing money out of the national treasury. When that happens, then the war can be over. Capice?

What a silly idea! Subjecting militarism and the profits that flow from it to the will of the people. Next you'll be saying totally crazy stuff like war isn't healthy for children and other living things. Buncha dirty fucking hippies.
