Michaels in Critical Condition With Hemorrhage
Source: New York Times

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Bret Michaels is in critical condition suffering from a brain hemorrhage, his publicist said Friday. Joann Mignano confirmed a report on People magazine's website Friday that said the former Poison frontman was rushed to intensive care late Thursday after a severe headache. The report said doctors discovered bleeding at the base of his brain stem.

Mignano said tests are being conducted and that no further information was available.

The 47-year-old reality TV star had an emergency appendectomy last week after complaining of stomach pains. He said on his website that though the surgery ''has taken its toll,'' doctors expected him to make a full recovery.

Michaels starred on the VH1 dating show ''Rock of Love'' and is a contestant on Donald Trump's NBC reality show, ''The Celebrity Apprentice.''

17. TMZ is reporting that Michaels is "awake, in good spirits and talking" as of Friday evening
TMZ is reporting that Michaels is "awake, in good spirits and talking" as of Friday evening (April 23). This information comes from Ambre Lake, the season-two winner of Michaels' "Rock of Love" reality show. TMZ reports that Lake has spoken with people close to Bret who say he's "stabilized and conscious."

18. Probably a reaction to blood thinners
used to control bleeding during surgery. Warfarin is commonly prescribed to prevent clotting afterwards, and is a very unscientific method, requiring close monitoring until baseline data can be obtained. I went through this for many years prior to, and after my heart surgery. I was ever so glad to finally be able to come off of that stuff. Also as a diabetic, I can attest to not having all medications react predictably. Hopefully he will receive the proper attention and monitoring to correct whatever the problem may be. Best wishes for a full recovery.

Very sad news indeed, especially after Peter Steele's death, who was only a year older.

15. Coudl this be from an aneurism brought about by the earlier surgery?
Could have been a aneurism brought about by a blood clot from the appendectomy earlier.

The good news about all this is - if you get to the hospital within the first hour they really stop a lot of the damage.
