Panama's Noriega is extradited from US to France
Source: BBC News

Former Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega is being extradited to France after serving a 17-year sentence in the US for drug trafficking.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signed the warrant allowing the extradition to go ahead.

French officials later confirmed that the extradition was under way.

France convicted Noriega in his absence in 1999 for laundering money through French banks, though it says he will be granted a new trial.

keeping their former crony, Noriega, on ice for many long years...Republicon occultism, hiding the truth from the light of day. As usual.

Edited on Mon Apr-26-10 06:46 PM by Hawkeye-X
for good behavior, but France wants him to do 10 more years for money laundering (he got a new trial, so we'll see), then Panama wants him back, if he's still alive after France.... (20 year prison sentence awaiting for him upon his return to his native land)

9. Poppy, making sure Noriega never talks. It wouldn't be prudent.

10. Update : Panama's Manuel Noriega 'to fight charges' in France
Panamanian ex-leader Manuel Noriega has appeared before French prosecutors after his US extradition and will fight charges against him, his lawyers say.

Noriega will argue French courts do not have jurisdiction to try him as he is immune from prosecution and because the statute of limitations has expired.

He was convicted in France in his absence in 1999 for money laundering but will face a new trial.

11. Can't let the Bush family bagman have the opportunity to spill what he knows
Thus he has to be kept in a prison, somewhere, until he dies.
