KOTA anchorman who was suspended over tea party speech resigns
Source: Rapid City (S.D.) Journal

Shad Olson, who was suspended three weeks ago from his KOTA TV news anchor job, resigned Tuesday to pursue hosting a radio talk show and to work as a paid political consultant.

Olson was suspended after he appeared as a featured speaker at a local tea party rally, a move that was labeled “an ethical lapse” by his supervisors at KOTA. Olson never called it that, however. He said Tuesday that it was time to move on.

... Olson, who remained on the KOTA payroll and continued to work off the air during his suspension, said he will now become more active with the local tea party affiliate, Citizens for Liberty. Olson also has begun work as a paid consultant for state Sen. Gordon Howie, R-Rapid City, a gubernatorial candidate endorsed by Citizens for Liberty.

... Olson said he has met with likely radio sponsors “who were complimentary of my work,” and hopes to have a regional show in operation by next month. It would be heard in South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska, he said.

3. A race to the bottom

This clown will be out of a job soon enough. The tea bagger movement will be a memory after November.

4. Perhaps...
The mainstream media seems committed to giving them maximum press time at the same time that the Teabaggers seem to be complaining about lack of press.

I suspect that Fox news is chilling out on them for now so that they can stoke them back to life sometime later this summer.

6. The Tea Party will have a great November 2010
They are scaring the crap out of Republican incumbents and will take all the credit for what is almost certainly going to be a bad year for Democrats.

If they are going to self-destruct look for it in 2011 - 2012 when they will try and impeach Obama. Any Republican that doesn't support it will be considered suspect and risks a primary challenge.

By November of 2012 look for the American people to tire of these clowns, Obama getting re-elected and Democrat gains (but not as much as their 2010 loses).

So I have written. I will take any and all bets up to a combined total of a nickle.

8. I'll take that bet

And raise you another nickle that tea party candidates are practically wiped from the political map in November.

7. Grabbing at the lure of the big bucks
Good luck, Shad. The market already seems pretty saturated, but maybe you'll have something that makes you stand out: Rush has his glib lying, Glenn has his on-cue crying, and Sean has his smarmy blow-drying. Think hard about how you'll want to be remembered. Just like Morton Downey, Jr.!

Shad fishing the Atlantic rivers is the American version of the Mecca pilgrimage.
