He survived a bitter primary two weeks ago, but now the Indiana Republican reportedly plans to resign amid allegations of an affair.

According to Fox News, Rep. Mark Souder will announce his resignation today after it was revealed he had an affair with a female who worked on his district office staff. The extent of the affair would likely have landed him in front of the House Ethics Committee.

"I wish I could have been a better example," Souder reportedly will say, according to a statement obtained by Fox News. "In this poisonous environment of Washington, D.C., any personal failing is seized upon, often twisted, for political gain. I am resigning rather than to put my family through that painful, drawn-out process."

The eight-term Congressman reportedly believes he "sinned against God, my wife and my family by having a mutual relationship with a part-time member of my staff."

House Republican Mark Souder Resigning TODAY, Over an Affair … With a WOMAN!

Indiana Republican and eight-term congressman Mark Souder is resigning immediately because he had sexytime with a woman who was not married-in-Christ to him. Souder just defeated a teabagger in the GOP primary, but with less than 50% of the vote, and eh we’ve never heard of this guy — Indiana’s third congressional district, we should pay more attention to this hotspot! — so let’s get to the crazy all-caps SORRY JEEBUS I PUT MY WANG IN ANOTHER LADY’S LADYPARTS. Also, he’s a wingnut who campaigned on the bullshit “I will repeal Obamacare,” so let the Devil take him!

The Devil take you, Mark Souder, for your Infidelity Against God! The Devil take you!

Tracy Jackson: Alleged MISTRESS Of Rep. Mark Souder (PICTURE, VIDEO)

Mark Souder, a Republican congressman from Indiana, has announced that he will resign his seat over an affair with a female aide. Fox News identified Souder's mistress as Tracy Jackson, a "part-time aide who worked in his northern Indiana district office."

"Jackson is still on staff," Fox News reported. "She is described as being in her mid-40s and married. Jackson handled communications for Souder in the district and periodically travelled with him."

Last November, Souder's office posted a video of Jackon "interviewing" the Congressman about an abstinence-only education hearing. The caption of the video noted that Souder was "one of the only voices speaking in defense of abstinence education."

" Could one of the top “family values” candidates have a big family problem? Documents reviewed by the Hook suggest that Feda Kidd Morton, a Republican seeking the nomination to run for U.S. Congress in the 5th District, lost custody of her four minor children in 2004 over her alleged “anger and bitterness.” Morton has moved to block the custody story, having allegedly secured a temporary injunction stopping anyone from publishing such documents.

Indiana Congressman and AIDS Prevention Witch-Hunter Mark Souder to Resign: UPDATE 3
By: Teddy Partridge Tuesday May 18, 2010 7:17 am

Mark Souder, GOP Congressman from Indiana who easily won renomination last month for a ninth term, will resign this morning after revelations of an affair with a staffer in his local district office. This career-ending dalliance is especially ironic given Souder’s witch-hunts, fake audits, and harassment of San Francisco AIDS prevention agencies early this century, which diverted scarce resources and may have cost lives.

<snip>

The AIDS prevention non-profit agency I worked for early this century was almost destroyed by ‘family values conservative’ Mark Souder’s witch hunts and prurience. He was, filling some undeserved chairmanship role in the GOP House, convinced that our HIV/AIDS prevention messaging to sexually active adults was too explicit and violated the odious Helms amendment preventing sexually transmitted disease prevention messaging from, um, talking about sex.

In San Francisco, sexually active men were fatigued from fifteen years of AIDS prevention messaging that was neither explicit nor informative. At the same time sexually explicit messaging for porn and every other consumer good barraged us from all sides. The AIDS messages used by the STOP AIDS project were proven: they worked to stop the transmission of the disease through harm reduction, peer-to-peer relationships, and community input and norms.

<snip>

But Souder, through audits, onsite investigations, public hearings and witch hunts against agency employees and public funders, made sure scarce time was devoted to responding to his spurious claims rather than preventing HIV/AIDS transmission. STOP AIDS Project worked with sexually active adult men who had sex with men: abstinence messages only made them laugh.

<snip>

People seroconverted, and people died, because of Mark Souder’s wrong-headed focus on abstinence-only education.

10. He was one of the first to sign on to Clinton's impeachment
when Bob Barr first introduced the idea.

One thing these religious fundies don't learn that I thought was part of their teachings, is not to judge others 'lest you yourself be judged'. I don't know why that seems to be left out.

Souder is the guy who passed the law that bans anyone with a drug offense of any kind from receiving federal financial aid for college studies. I hope his pecker falls off.

18. That's right. He singlehandedly energized student drug reformers.
Thanks, Rep. Souder, for helping to create Students for Sensible Drug Policy. We couldn't have done it without you.
