Judge speeds up suit aimed at adding paper trail to votes
Associated Press

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A judge agreed Monday to hurry along a lawsuit aimed at adding a paper trail to Florida's new electronic voting machines.

U.S. District Judge James Cohn set an August trial date for the suit that Democratic U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler filed against Secretary of State Glenda Hood and state election supervisors on March 8.

Wexler called the ruling "a great victory for Floridians, who can keep the hope alive that we will avoid another election night catastrophe."

But Hood spokeswoman Jenny Nash said she believed the lawsuit would be dismissed before it went to trial, just as a similar suit that Wexler filed in state court was last month.

1. it's interesting the such an incredible fight is being put up to keep us
from having a paper trail for our elections. anyone who fights having a paper trail should be investigated... they are immediately suspect in the war on election fraud. in fact, i think that the paper trail fight should be called the war on election fraud.

6. Any honest voting machine company would welcome paper
because it would be a reason for billing for more work, and thus getting more profit.

At best they're worried it will expose their incompetence; at worst, their fraud.

2. August??? . . . that's not what I'd called expedited . . .
by the time the ruling (whichever way it goes) gets appealed, and then appealed again, we'll be well past Election Day . . .

5. Florida Election Board Website
I've been trying to e-mail them but it don't seem to operational. I wonder what the heck they got up their sleeves. Anyone who don't want paper trails is very suspicious to me. It says they have something they want to do (an option) if bush needs to pull a rabbit out of his hat.
