Arizona immigration law rally loses group due to neo-Nazi links
Source: The Arizona Republic

A national anti-illegal-immigration group has pulled out of a planned June 5 rally in Phoenix to support Arizona's immigration law because of a key organizer's alleged links to neo-Nazis.

The website for the "Phoenix Rising" Arizona Rally and Freedom March event scheduled for Wesley Bolin Plaza lists as "confirmed" speakers former Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, state Sen. and Senate Bill 1070 sponsor Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, and GOP Senate challenger J.D. Hayworth, although a spokesman said Hayworth won't be participating.

.......

But William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee, or ALIPAC, is distancing his group from event organizer Daniel Smeriglio of Hazleton, Pa., over Facebook connections to White supremacists and a European neo-Nazi musical act.

"We have worked diligently behind the scenes to try to resolve this situation with the knowledge that our political opposition does have strong evidence of neo-Nazi supporters being involved with the event still going forward on the 5th," ALIPAC said Thursday in a written statement. "We feel it is completely unacceptable that Dan Smeriglio and Tom Tancredo or anyone else would put the brave activists, lawmakers, candidates, and citizens of Arizona at risk by proceeding with an event that our opponents can use to harm our cause of stopping and reversing illegal immigration."

2. I'ts painfully obvious..
that this bill is being used not only to paint the illegal immigrant as the bad guy and not the corporations that hire them, but it is also used to cause a internal class conflict amongst the lower working class and keep their minds off the blatant fascist movement that is taking place in America today.

The number one thing people say when they show support for this immigration law is that the "Mexicans are taking our jobs" because that is what they are led to believe. The reality is the only reason these illegal immigrants have these jobs is not only because they are GIVEN the job, but also because these jobs are created solely because it is bottom-line friendly to the corporations that hire them.

If all illegal immigration was done away with tomorrow, watch these supposed "jobs that were taken away from us by Mexicans" disappear along with the corporations who would then open up shop in Mexico.

22. Why do you think that corporations would move to Mexico if they could not hire
undocumented Mexican immigrants?

Really, I'm curious about your reasoning. It's not obvious to me.

25. Business wise it makes sense..
The reason businesses hire illegal immigrants is to keep their labor costs low so they can compete with foreign import goods. If they keep labor costs low they can then lower prices to stay competitive in the US market and offer low prices which in turn creates more revenue. Of course Americans love low prices, ask Wal-Mart who was fined 11 million dollars for hiring illegal immigrants in 2005 to clean hundreds of their stores in the United States.

Now take away that perk from these corporations or even small businesses then they will be forced to do something else to pad their bottom line. What is it? Move jobs to Mexico, like Hersheys, Whirlpool, General Motors, Ford, and many other corporations have done. Even smaller businesses that you don't read in the national headlines move jobs or completely move their operations to Mexico.

The cost of land, transportation, LABOR and overall cost of running a business in Mexico is much cheaper.

Less restrictive regulations pertaining to the environment or occupational safety.

Minimum wage in Mexico is 54.47 Pesos A DAY, not an HOUR but A DAY equivalent to $4.20. WOW.

On top of that lower tax tariff thanks to NAFTA and they can then ship the products back to the states and make a fortune.

Until the Government cracks down on Corporations hiring illegal immigrants by accepting fake social security numbers, green cards or temporary worker permits and also do away with NAFTA all together, this will never end. We have a government and a system that caters to corporations at the Americans workers expense. A majority of us are ignorant to the facts and we fight amongst each other for jobs that are not even there.

Yet we are made to believe that its the Illegal Immigrant thats at fault, the evil poor little Mexican who comes to the United States to steal our jobs.

Cmon wake up already.

26. Well, you haven't explained why the businesses aren't already all in Mexico.
Other than that, you haven't said anything that I haven't known for a long, long time.

I am awake, thank you very much.

27. Because white collared employees
Edited on Sun May-23-10 07:56 PM by Francisco
who don't deal with the manual labor aspect of business wont want to make 54 pesos a day. A lot of manufacturing jobs have already been sent to Mexico if not Asia, where have you been?

It's not like illegal immigrants are getting accounting, administrative, or managerial jobs etc, they are doing the janitorial, manufacturing, harvesting work that doesn't require an education.

Plus you have the aspect of resources being available in the USA (the land can be worked), so paired with the lax Government regulation of hiring illegal immigrants its still a good business decision to operate here. You can have the perks of having cheap labor with disregard to occupational safety all in your backyard for one low low price, isn't that great? :)

Again its pretty obvious, so maybe you haven't known much this "long, long time", drink some espresso and swallow your pride.

these RW groups would be able to distance themselves from Nazis and KKK and still be able to hold events. The topic is too much of a draw for those groups not to have a presence.
