Document says number of attempted attacks on U.S. is at all-time high
Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) -- Just weeks after the failed car bombing of New York's Times Square, the Department of Homeland Security says "the number and pace of attempted attacks against the United States over the past nine months have surpassed the number of attempts during any other previous one-year period."

That grim assessment is contained in an unclassified DHS intelligence memo prepared for various law enforcement groups, which says terror groups are expected to try attacks inside the United States with "increased frequency."

CNN obtained a copy of the document, dated May 21, which goes on to warn, "we have to operate under the premise that other operatives are in the country and could advance plotting with little or no warning."

1. In free nations, the security forces act "below the radar" but in increasing
totalitarian societies, the government finds it necessary to keep the populace *IN FEAR.*

We don't need any of this information leaked to us - even in generalized form.

Good intelligence and policing is conducted without comment.

10. I have the utmost respect for the military and their STRAC units such as the SF and SEAL units.
But forgive me, when you use the term "fixer" all I can flash back to is the flick "pulp fiction."

2. But who wrote the "intelligence document"?
So much of the intelligence gathering is outsourced to companies and right wing think tanks which also have
vested interests in war related contracts.

6. This is why I didn't want to jump on Arizona harshly. Some local
tv station in Arizona (sorry, I don't have a link) did a piece on people crossing the border and a whole lot of them were young Middle Eastern men and women who were Hell bent to come over here as suicide bombers. The video was pretty scary and if you check on Google, I'm sure you can find the videos. Since most people in Arizona probably saw those videos on their local news (and most of us didn't) it's not really surprising that they are upset. The videos were eye-opening to say the least.

7. And you believed that? That's an old Donald Rumsfeld fantasy.
There were no Mexican pilots on 9/11.

If you search "terrorists crossing Mexico border" the only sites that come up are whackjob nativist sites. Try it.

12. Ok, I found the videos.
According to the Border Patrol the public is being mislead as to WHO is coming into the US from Mexico.

These two reports are full of misinformation and take off on Donald Rumsfeld' lie that "Islamic terrorists" had set up camp in the tri-border region of South America.

It should be a big clue, though, that Farmer uses JD HAYWORTH to give credibility to this wholly incredible report. And the language, my god. He calls Middle Eastern countries "terrorist nations". Did you catch that?

This report is meant to gin up fear about the border and that's all. People can get into this country a lot more easily by getting a tourist or student visa and flying into a major city. They don't need to risk their lives crossing the desert.

ETA: Here's an article from TomDispatch, 2006 that talks about Rumsfeld's craziness about the tri border region. Farmer couldn't even use NEW craziness.
