Kleenex Maker to Raise Prices in U.S.

(What's that again about inflation being minimal?!)

DALLAS - Kimberly-Clark Corp., the maker of Kleenex tissues and Scott paper towels, Tuesday said it plans to raise consumer prices of tissue products in the United States by an average of about 6 percent during the third quarter.

The company said prices for bathroom tissue, paper towels and napkins will be increased effective July 11. Facial tissue prices will rise beginning Aug. 29.

The Dallas-based company said the increases are necessary to offset inflated raw-material costs, particularly for fiber, as well as higher energy costs.

Go figure...can you say GOUGE? First gasoline, which BTW went here in COLUMBUS,OHIO, to $1.86 gallon for the cheap stuff, $2.04 for the good stuff. Highest it has been since an idiot tried to sell it for $8.00 a gallon post 9/11 in an east side suburb.

Such a naughty sounding word, for an economics term. Perhaps it is time to start tracking the misery index, line up for gas, etc. - just as long as disco doesn't come back.
