Senate panel votes to oust Molnau for transportation job (MN Lite Gov)

ST. PAUL (AP) - A Minnesota Senate committee recommended Tuesday that Lt. Gov. Carol Molnau be removed from her other job as head of the state transportation department.

The 8-7 vote won't immediately cost Molnau the commissioner's job. The full Senate will have the final say. But the chamber is led by Democrats, who lined up against Molnau in the Senate Transportation Policy and Budget Division.

``What you have here is a commissioner who has advanced an agenda of party politics that is not taking into account a vision for transportation and transit in this state,'' said Senate Majority Leader Dean Johnson, DFL-Willmar, who opposed Molnau's confirmation to a position she has held for 14 months.

Molnau also faced criticism over her department's distribution of road money, which rural senators said shortchanged their districts at the expense of Twin Cities-area projects. Others said she has overlooked mass transit needs and stood in the way of legislation they said would make school zones safer.

3. Yes, she's so anti-transit that she refused to appear with Pawlenty
when he announced his support for a truncated commuter rail line.

4. Good riddance to a disgusting Repuke.
She led the opposition to contracts for state employees just because they included same-sex partner benefits. If she's only going to be commissioner for SOME of the employees, kick her the hell out.

Pawlenty and he gang that couldn't govern straight has overplayed their hand, written verbal checks that their asses couldn't cash, and now it's time for a resurgent DFL to keep this state up!
