FOX (of course) Report: Sen. Edwards Owes $11,000 in Taxes

Presidential hopeful Sen. John Edwards (search) is in some hot water for apparently not paying taxes over the last four months for his Georgetown (search) mansion.

The Washington Times reported Thursday that the North Carolina senator, a millionaire personal injury lawyer worth somewhere between $12 million and $30 million, owes the District of Columbia (search) more than $11,000.

Edwards' campaign said Thursday that the senator has paid delinquent taxes on the house.

"They had not received a copy of the tax notice," said campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri, referring to the senator and his wife, Elizabeth. "When they got a copy yesterday, they paid it immediately."

that's only $1,000 more than what I owe.

on edit - I just realzied - It's LESS than what I owe.

So that means Edwards shouldn't pay his taxes on time? I fail to see the connection...

My question is why don't they talk about Bush's doings which are much more severe. No, it does not justify Edwards failing to make a payment.

Progressive1 is correctly pointing out the selective reporting and contrived outrage by the RW Media. They make a big deal about an accounting screwup with Edwards but poo-poo coverage about Bush's insider trading.

He's late on his taxes too.

...does Bush owe in backtaxes on his insider trading deals? Oh yeah, I forgot, the guys in charge of investigating him for that now all enjoy positions in THIS Bush administration...

I have a reliable source close to Republican operatives who told me awhile back that Edwards was the candidate * feared the most. It's not hard for Ashcroft to throw up a few investigations for this and that, as it makes for good campaign ad soundbites, even if nothing ever comes of the investigations.

so what...They can't ruin Edwards..Edwards should say at least he's not a thug or thief!
