Mich. GOP Votes to Fine Colleges for Same-Sex Benefits
Source: The Advocate

Michigan’s House has approved an amendment to the education budget that would penalize state universities and colleges five percent for offering domestic partner benefits to same-sex and unmarried partners.

State Rep. Dave Agema posted the following update on his Facebook page Thursday night: “I had an amendment put into the education budget that takes 5% away from colleges that give same-sex/unmarried benefits and places up to $60 million of that into the MPSRS K-12 budget if colleges do not stop skirting the law and the will of the people. Colleges can’t say they are short of money when they skirt the law and give such benefits. The Dems didn’t like this – it passed.”

12. Actually no. In this case it is a right not yet won.
It may have been voluntarily offered by those institutions, but they are under no legal obligation to do so. Which of course gives this dick the power to do just what he did.

14. Disagree. Those institutions granted those rights because of the struggle of the GLBT community.
If I say, "If you work for me, I'm going to give you XYZ," and you work for me, you have a right to what I promised you, even if no law obligated me to promise the particular fringe benefit I promised.

Remember AIG's bonuses after the bailout? No longer required AIG to promoise those bonuses. However, we said we could not interfere with the contract rights of the employees, so we could not forbid paying of those bonuses or make it a condition of the bailout.

Notice, they are not abolishing same gender benefits, "only" fining a school that gives them.

And, there's the equal protection issue, which will depend upon the state court's interpretation of the Constitution of the state and of the U.S., if and when a case is brought.

the women of the breed - i believe - either suffer from 'abused spouse syndrome';
or, are mainstream schizoids, like michele bachmann & anne coulter.

13. M to M
I see them as the folks who advertise for sex in the M to M section of Craig's list, claiming to be married, not gay, etc. This conduct is everywhere and easy to find. Doubt it? Just look in that section and put "married" in the search line. It must cause a lot of guile, confusion, etc. to not even be able to admit to being bi.

for garbage like this.
