KVOA won't air TV show based on Tucson shooting
Source: Arizona Daily Star {Tucson}

An upcoming episode of Law & Order based on the Jan. 8 Tucson shooting
will not air locally, the president and general manager of KVOA says.

Bill Shaw says the station made the decision based on the fact
that there are too many similarities to the actual tragic event.

“In addition, the timing of the episode in question is too close to
that horrible day,” he said. “The Tucson community is still going
through the healing process.”

NBC plans to air the episode Monday, May 16, the same day that
U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ husband is scheduled to launch into
space on the space shuttle Endeavour. Giffords was critically injured
Jan. 8 and continues to recover at a hospital in Houston.

1. Fox delayed a Family Guy/Cleveland Show/American Dad crossover about a tornado
because it was set to air the Sunday after the Alabama tornado.

But the thing is that Law & Order: Los Angeles (not the 1990-2010 version set in New York City) is based on real events. I think that it's a bit distasteful to broadcast this episode on the day that Mark Kelly blasts off. And Rep. Giffords is still in rehab. And who knows, maybe the launch may get delayed again.

3. whatever happened to 'discretion advised' warnings - let folks decide for themselves

now they are just making people WANT to watch it on cable off the East or West coast stations

bully for their PR depts - if you want someone to tune in, just tell them they can't watch it
