Nygren announces he'll take on Hansen in recall race

State Rep. John Nygren (R-Marinette) announced Tuesday he'll be a candidate against state Sen. Dave Hansen (D-Green Bay) if the Government Accountability Board declares an election in Hansen's recall.

Nygren made the announcement at an 11 a.m. news conference in Green Bay.

In a statement released before the conference, Nygren criticized Hansen for leaving the state with other Democratic senators in February to prevent a vote on Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill.

Hansen “walked off the job, fled the state of Wisconsin, and literally turned his back on the people he swore an oath to represent," Nygren said.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
