GOP says boost to state budget won't help unions

SCOTT BAUER | Associated Press | (21) Comments | Posted: Wednesday, May 11, 2011 2:00 pm

Republican legislative leaders sought to dampen enthusiasm over an improved budget forecast Wednesday, saying the $636 million in additional tax revenue shouldn't be used for new spending or to replace savings that would come from forced benefit concessions from state workers.

If anything, the co-chairs of the Legislature's budget-writing committee said, the money should be used to pay down the state's debt and possibly restore some cuts Gov. Scott Walker had proposed.
..............

No decisions have been made yet on how to use the money, they said.

Walker planned to comment on the Legislative Fiscal Bureau report Wednesday afternoon............

No matter the spin, the news will almost certainly increase the pressure on Walker and the Legislature to rethink the governor's proposed $1 billion in cuts to schools and local governments.

.................

No link yet.

Walker has commented and essentially he told the unions to suck it up. Will try to find the link.
