Woman beheaded in Tenerife supermarket

A man has beheaded a woman in a supermarket on the Spanish resort island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, according to local authorities.

The suspect, believed to be a homeless Bulgarian man with a police record, was detained by security guards after he ran out of the supermarket with the head in his hands.

A witness told broadcaster Cadena Ser he saw the man drop the head on the pavement after coming out of the store. "I parked my car and saw a man running out with something bloody in his hands and a security guard chasing him. He threw it to the ground, it almost hit me and what he had been carrying was a woman's head."

Regional interior ninistry delegate Dominica Fernandez said the suspect was believed to have entered the shop and stolen a knife, which he then used to kill and behead the woman, whose identity has not been released.

when some dude on a bus turned to the sleeping guy next to him and started stabbing him--I think he got his head severed too. People ran off the bus in the middle of nowhere and watched this lunatic run around inside the bus for quite a while until the police showed up, IIRC.

will never be the same again. That story stayed with me--the awfulness and randomness of it.

On March 22, 2004 the FDA issued a “Public Health Advisory” cautioning about the risks associated with the new generation of antidepressants including the SSRIs. In examining drug-induced suicide, the FDA’s also observed that certain behaviors are “known to be associated with these drugs,” including “anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, insomnia, irritability, hostility, impulsivity, akathisia (severe restlessness), hypomania, and mania.”

This syndrome will cause both suicide and violence. Each of the adverse drug reactions described as “known” antidepressants effects has been linked to violence—most obviously agitation, irritability, hostility, impulsivity, akathisia, hypomania and mania. The FDA’s conclusions seem drawn from my recent detailed review of SSRI adverse effects (Breggin 1993/1994, p. 32): “Mania with psychosis is the extreme end of a stimulant continuum that often begins with lesser degrees of insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, hyperactivity and irritability and then progresses toward more severe agitation, aggression, and varying degrees of mania.”"

This woman was someone's wife, mother, sister, friend, daughter...

I can't believe that people are making freaking jokes about this. My sister was on Tenerife on vacation last month so maybe I'm taking this too personally. As you pointed out, this woman has a family and people who care about her. On reflection.....Hell NO....I'm not taking this too personally. I don't expect to see this BS on DU.

Now I know why I don't bother with this place very much anymore. Making jokes and trying to top the other jokes is way out of line. In fact, it's pretty ****ing pathetic. Combine these juvenile statements with some of the other garbage that I've seen here lately, and it's becoming more like a RW moran site.

i remember reading a story about a woman beheaded by a guy who was mentally ill in st. vincent, a caribbean island, several years ago. he used a machete in that case. what a terrifying way to die. :(

from the photo, you can't tell if this is a before or after....

To lose your mother is one thing. To have her murdered like this and the body desecrated is something I'd have a hard time living with.

May they find comfort somehow.
