APANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A Turkish seismology institute says a moderate earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 has hit western Turkey. There are no immediate reports of casualties.
The Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory said the quake in Kutahya province occurred at 23:15 p.m. (2015GMT) Thursday and was centered near the town of Simav. It says an aftershock with a preliminary magnitude of 4.6 shook Simav just 10 minutes later.
