Michael Steele Joins MSNBC As Political Analyst
Source: Talking Points Memo.com

Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, whose tumultuous two-year stewardship ended earlier this year, has been hired by MSNBC as a political analyst, NBC announced in a statement this morning.

Steele has been a frequent guest on MSNBC, and will now apear regularly in their discussion panels to offer commentary. Previous reports had indicated Steele was also in talks with CNN and Fox News to land a TV deal.

"It's an honor to contribute and engage in the dialogue on MSNBC," Steele said in a statement about his new position. "I look forward to engaging a diverse audience to share insights and analysis about the people, issues, and events shaping America's future. I'm sure our discussions will be both informative and a bit spirited!"

Steele's tenure at the helm of the RNC was marked by numerous gaffes -- such as saying the GOP should supply it's values to "urban, hip-hop settings", saying abortion should be a woman's choice, and criticizing Rush Limbaugh before running back to praise him when that comment drew heavy fire from his own party

What better way to illustrate how out-of-touch the pubs are than to have Steele open his pie hole?

26. To show they're "Fair and Balanced."
It ever hurts to have a divergent viewpoint, no matter how ridiculous it is.

Besides, he probably needs the money.

So glad I stopped watching MSNBC the night Keith's show ended. Comcast, no doubt, has started its "out Fox, Fox" campaign.

17. Thank Rachel Maddow
Up until Rachel started having Michael Steele as a guest on her show, most people thought he was a complete clown. Rachel gave Steele the opportunity to speak freely and allow people to see that while he may be wrong about almost everything, he is actually someone you can have a conversation with.

27. THIS....
I give a thumbs up to this move by MSNBC...I know, I know, he's a GOP-er, but he just strikes me as not-nearly-as-stupid as the intellectual trappings of his job as Chairman almost REQUIRED him to be. The more we can talk to the smart ones, the more they will have to come up with better arguments for their positions, or abandon those positions as untenable at best, and the pinnacle of insanity at worst. The more of them we can enlighten into at least a moderate position, the easier it will be to run a functional Congress at least......

22. He's one of the only sane ones they have left....
And yet, he's still a wimp. Running back to kiss Rush's ass when what he said was true. Nonetheless, he's not the worst guy in the world and at least he's willing to defend his arguments in any setting. Regardless of if I agree with his stance, he's willing to commit to it about 90% of the time.

On the negative, he's argumentative to the point that he won't let people around him speak and he's... well... he's republican. So, that doesn't help.

24. High school
Edited on Mon May-23-11 03:34 PM by bongbong
It's a little known fact that Steele & Bill Kristol went to high school together. For the entire seven years that they attended, they both wore "I'm with stupid ->" tee-shirts and walked together to every class. They were known as "Dumber & Dumberest"

I hope that when Rachel gets canned, she goes to Current. She's the only one worth any time any more.
