KeyCorp is eliminating 64 technology jobs in Greater Cleveland and shifting the work to two other companies: Hewlett-Packard of California and Cognizant Technology Solutions of India.
The positions - mostly in software development and support - represent about 7 percent of Key's 900 technology positions in Cleveland among its 5,455 local jobs. Nationwide, Key employs about 1,300 in technology and 15,300.
Some of the layoffs will occur in the next few weeks; others will be by year-end. About 40 are from Key's complex on Tiedeman Road in Brooklyn; the rest are in downtown Cleveland.
Both Hewlett-Packard and Cognizant have done work for Key for several years, said Key spokesman Bill Murschel. This most recent staffing decision following a 12-month-long analysis, he said.
