..................

Walker spokesman Cullen Werwie said he was unaware of the license requirement and said it was “in no way directed by the governor or anyone on staff.”

Lori Lemberger, an administrative assistant with Centerline Machine, said the citizenship requirement is a longstanding rule for anyone who visits the company because it does a lot of contract work for the government. All first-time visitors are required to sign in and show a driver’s license under federal anti-arms trafficking regulations required of contractors, she said.

But Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesman Graeme Zielinski called the requirement “bizarre” and divisive.

..................

Terri Schulz, the chamber’s president, insisted the photo ID requirement to prove citizenship “has nothing to do with the governor at all.”

1. This is both unbelievable and irrational.... as the first paragraph states...

"will need to show a driver’s license as proof of United States citizenship before entering."

One need NOT be a US Citizen to get a driver's license.

That's fallacy number one!

Obviously, Walker's folks are afraid someone will do a glitter shower on Walker as happened to Gingrich last week. They don't want some protesters outbursts being caught on video phone cam... and distributed to all the networks and the internet.

2. I don’t have to show any driver’s license to protest his ‘sorry ass’!
Anybody know if there is going to be protestors at the event?

9. this is true
Depending on the kind of work they do they may very well require ID before entering. Have you not seen compnies with gates and guard shacks at the entrance?

Try entering Sikorsky Aircraft. Last time I was there to speak with engineering they searched my car, took down my DR # and had the buyer meet me at the gate. I had to have an appointment before I could even enter the gate. Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, on and on the same thing.

12. That's an ID, not proof of citizenship.
A foreign national can have an American driver's license.
