Afghanistan’s Karzai Gives U.S. Final Warning: Stop Killing Civilians
Source: Agence France-Presse

Sunday, May 29th, 2011 -- 4:18 pm

KABUL (AFP) – Afghan President Hamid Karzai called on the US military on Sunday to avoid operations that kill civilians, saying it was his "last warning" to Washington after 14 people allegedly died in an air strike.

Reacting to the alleged deaths of 10 children, two women and two men in an air strike on Saturday in the southern province of Helmand, Karzai said such incidents were "murdering of Afghanistan's children and women."

"The president called this incident a great mistake and the murdering of Afghanistan's children and women, and on behalf of the Afghan people gives his last warning to the US troops and US officials in this regard," his office said, adding that he "strongly condemned" the killings.

Citing initial "reports and heartrending pictures published on media" Karzai's office said 10 children, two women and two men were killed in the raid.

he can turn his people against us, if he feels like we are causing too much destruction.

And really, there is no good reason for us to be there any more.

14. And I would be cool with karzai if he did tell us to get out
I want him to come out and say that he doesnt want nato in his country anymore. That would be awesome. Then we could leave and wash our hands of this crap. But he doesnt. He wants us there. And then makes idle distracting threats when us being there causes problems.

22. Fair enough. But how badly does he really want us there?
At some point, the needs of his people for safety from the US have to outweigh whatever security, or money or whatever they think they are getting.

25. Come on. I mean.. this is Karzai we are talking about
Unfortunately I think NATO cares about civilian casualties more than he does. He just knows enough to score political points to ensure he can continue to fleece his people.

23. Yeah, too involved
Just pointing out the contradiction of NATO claiming to save civilians in one country and killing them in another.

11. exactly
what are they going to do? if they resist, we can just rebrand the Karzai govt as terrorist and then blast the living shit out of them. God knows it aint going to be too hard to pull off especially with all the drug running and taliban relationship.

I am not even a religious person but I pray everynight that one day, our troops would return hime. The people of the Iraq and Afghanistan have suffered enough
