Pelosi, Obama to hold White House meeting on Friday

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and President Obama will meet at the White House on Friday morning, according to a Democratic source.

Meanwhile, Pelosi told Bloomberg TV that the country would reach a deal on raising the debt limit before the Aug. 2 deadline set by Treasury officials.

“With all due respect to Greece, we are not Greece,” Pelosi said, referring to the recent financial crisis that engulfed that country.

“I believe, respecting our colleagues on both sides of the aisle, that everybody knows that the full faith and credit of the United States of America must be respected by the Congress of the United States. I have faith and confidence this will happen.”

Repukes to finally accept a deal that's truly half way (and it pains me to accept even that.)

take we Americans to the cleaners just like they did the Greeks. And our political leaders will proclaim how necessary it is to do so, just like the Greek political leaders. And they will gladly line their pockets with the bribes showered upon them by the bankers, stockbrokers, and hedge fund managers, just like the Greek politicians.

There's a reason Pelosi said what she did. And it isn't the truth. Not by a long shot. Look at HER net worth. She's one of them. One of the top 2%. She's not going to rock the boat. Not by a long shot.

I would LOVE to be proven wrong about this. Time will tell.

I guess she's taking Social Security and Medicare cuts off the debt ceiling negotiation table and putting them on the budget negotiation table.

Bottom line, they'll still be on the table.

Ya know, there's this theory that things like this are alternated between the two Parties, so that the Party you'd least expect does what "the people who are really in control" think has to be done.

Like have Reagan and Bush I raising taxes, while having Clinton cut welfare. That way, the corner from whom you'd expect the most opposition is tamped down by Party loyalty and admiration for "their" President.

When I first heard it, I rolled my eyes. I mean, really, you have to be kidding me, right?

To decide on what verbage to use to explain how we'll be raped again?

but then again Obama doesn't seem to want to meet with Democrats who actually still have some measure of power. JMHO
