1. Three blasts in Mumbai, Home Ministry confirms terror attack
Mumbai: Three explosions have taken place in Mumbai on Wednesday evening - two in South Mumbai at Opera House and in Zaveri Bazar and one at Dadar West, in central Mumbai. The Home Ministry has confirmed a terrorist attack and Mumbai is on high alert.

All blasts took place in crowded places. Eyewitnesses said about 15 to 20 people have taken to hospital in Zaveri Bazar. Reports said six people had died in the Dadar blast, four in the Zaveri Bazaar blast.

One explosion, in a car at a bus stop in Dadar West, has been confirmed. A police officer said there might have been an explosive in a meter box behind a hoarding at Khau gali, a street filled with eateries at Zaveri Bazaar.

Early reports said a police control room had received a call claiming that there were serial blasts in Mumbai.

8. At least 10 Killed and 70 injured
Edited on Wed Jul-13-11 11:10 AM by Vehl

MUMBAI, India (AP) — Three explosions rocked India's busy financial capital at rush-hour Wednesday, killing at least eight people and injuring 70 in what officials described as another terror strike on the city hit by militants nearly three years ago.

Indian media reported the Home Ministry had called the separate blasts in three busy locations a terror attack. No officials there could be independently reached for comment.

One blast was in the crowded neighborhood of Dadar in central Mumbai. The others were at the bazaar, which is a famed jewelry market, and the busy business district of Opera House, both in southern Mumbai and several miles (kilometers) apart, a police official said.

My deepest sympathies to the victims & their families. :(

A prime example of the effects of religious fundamentalism! you stay classy Pakistan.

The Congress party in India has to go. The congress is a party of doddering old men and is not fit to lead India today...hell they were outdated 50 years ago...today they are relics. All the signs posit a defeat in the coming election for the Congress party, and a well deserved one at that.

Or perhaps retaliatory attacks for Kashmir human rights abuses by Indian forces?

I really wish Kashmir was a solved problem. :( K&R

15. This was terrorism supported by Pakistan
until proven otherwise. The blasts occurred on the birthday of Ajmal Q'asab, the lone terrorist from 26/11/2008 captured and who is now awaiting a death sentence.

16. And Pakistan claimed that it was not connected to the 2008 attacks....and was proven wrong
Edited on Wed Jul-13-11 08:27 PM by Vehl
I still remember people, especially media knowitalls claiming that Pakistan could not be involved in the 2008 Attack that killed hundreds...but 2 years later everyone knows that Pakistani Intelligence agency, the ISI played a part in planning and coordinating the attack (as revealed in the court trials in both America and India)...but then again Pakistan also claimed that Osama did not live there and people believed it...so yeah..go figure.

I'm gobsmacked by the gullibility displayed by some of the politicians and media moguls when it comes to missing the obvious...often I believe that they are unwilling to accept facts even when it stares them in the face cos it goes against everything they want to believe in. After all denial is easy.

17. I know how pathetic the MSM and pundits are
when it comes to Pakistan. For decades they had created a world-wide myth that somehow India and Pakistan were equals by hyphenating them.

Pakistan is a terrorist state which survives on foreign aid. It is not economically viable and will never be. It will always be a colossal mistake of the nefarious Brits who drew artificial boundaries around the world for pernicious reasons.

Imagine the mess India would be in now if all those people and their fundie ideologies were inside India instead of a separate country? India would be in the dark ages. Even though its a crying shame that Bharat got split into two, at least the remnant can work without having a dumbbell tied to its legs.

12. 21 killed, 113 injured
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-14141454

Designed to kill as many people as they could:

"Bodies and limbs were strewn everywhere. People were crying and screaming. The area was packed with shoppers at the time of the blast. A few offered assistance to the blood-soaked victims, while others looked on in a state of shock," he said.
...
In the central Dadar district, the bomb tore apart a taxi that was parked next to a bus stop, witnesses told the BBC. It was unclear whether the explosives were planted inside the vehicle or in a nearby electricity meter box.

13. The fundies who ask for Kashmiri freedom are just that.....fundies
Edited on Wed Jul-13-11 07:15 PM by Vehl
I can understand if some ethnic group seeks self rule and self determination( Eg the Tibetans or the Kurds) however no sane person can support claims by religious fundies.

The Arabs(Muslims) invaded India and occupied swaths of it....after conducting mass slaughter of the natives on a scale that would easily be on par with the Holocaust(when adjusted for population). When India got freedom from the British they also demanded "land of the pure" (rolleeyes) and Pakistan was born. But no..they cannot be content with that..thry want to see all of India Brought under Islamic rule..so they claim Kashmir. Their claim is definitely NOT an ethnic claim cos millions of Hindu Kashmiri's have been driven out of their own native land...land where they have lived for thousands of years by these so called "Kashmiri Freedom fighters". Apparently the "real" kashmiris in the minds of the Kashmiri "Freedom Fighters" are not the ones who have lived for millenia..but ONLY those who are Muslim. Muslims are welcome in India..in fact India has had Muslim presidents and PM's...the current VP is a Muslim as well, however it does not support religious fundamentalism and religious demands. It's as simple as that.

Why would India, a secular Democratic nation...and the largest one in the world at that..would even listen to such claims of religious nutjobs? nearly 60 years later..and 3 disastrous wars to "liberate" Kashmir (Wars which pretty much broke Pakistan's back every single time it tried) later, Pakistan still cannot accept that democracies cannot pander to the claims of religious fundies.

If they are so adamant in going back to the middle ages, they are welcome to do so in the land of the pure...and by the recent happenings there..and the way how it totters on the brink of anarchy; they seem to have gotten their Utopia after all. :sarcasm:

How long would it take Pakistan, the religious nutjobs, the Taliban and the Al Qauida to realize that that regardless of these terrorist Attacks, India will not secede even a square cm of its lands? However they still persevere...digging their own hole deeper while the rest of the World, India included progresses by leaps and bounds.

Those who think that Kashmir is disputed territory need to read up on history.

14. They do it because the US, UK and now China
are paying them money to survive.

If we stop all aid to Pakistan, the world will realize that the nefariously carved "land of the pure" :sarcasm: is not viable economically at all.
