Team USA beats France 3-1, scores World Cup birth
Source: CNN

The USA women's team advanced to the World Cup finals after beating France 3-1 Wednesday in Frankfurt, Germany.
The second semifinal Wednesday pits Sweden against Japan. The winners will meet for the title on Sunday.
"I feel like our country is behind us, and that now the whole world is watching us, because people realize we've been playing some really good football," USA goalkeeper Hope Solo said after her team defeated Brazil to reach the semifinals.

Both are not important news story. Please post in women's sports forum. Or Soccer forum.

and is a big national story. How about the mods determining where it does or does not belong?

3. Do not post opinion pieces, editorials, frivolous items, or other stories that are not news.

I can post baseball game scores now in Late Breaking News?

19. The women's team making it to the finals IS NOT
a frivolous item... it is actually a MAJOR sports news.

Look I don't care for Lebron James. I could drop him as far as I can throw him. His contract with the Miami Heat also did belong in LBN.

25. We do not have a women's sports forum
we have one sports forum, in which women's sports, particularly college basketball, are often discussed as vigorously as the men's variety.

15. That explains why Buehler wasn't on the field
She was obviously giving birth.

Silly me, I thought it was because of that red card against Brazil.

13. I had to play it in slow motion to understand what the hell happened.
It looked like there were two US players at the point of contact but it was the goalie that looked like a USA player.

It was an excellent pass and head shot.

Either way, it's a sort of awesome name, because you could claim the link.

10. Who got born while they were securing this berth?
And they should pay attention to soccer, not scoring births. Births can be difficult enough, without someone scoring them.

Oh yes, yay for the team!

14. How the US managed to win is beyond me
They were outplayed for the first 75 minutes. Two goals within 3 minutes sunk France.

I think Rapinoe coming in off the bench made the difference, but really, the US should have been down 3 by then.

France will be formidable in years to come - they just need a proper keeper.

Congrats Team USA! Football (Soccer) is the Worlds most popular game.
So happy for them, they never quit, no matter the odds. Can't wait for the next game. And yes, this is Global News, in that Football (Soccer) is the Worlds Most popular game. And I'm so glad it's catching on here. I don't know why anyone would think this should be posted in a women's sports forum. That's insulting, they are a team representing the United State, no matter their gender. So congrats and good luck in the World Cup Finals!

22. "And I'm so glad it's catching on here"
That's what people were saying last time the women made the finals. They even tried a women's soccer pro league and it failed miserably.

23. So, is your issue that it's soccer
instead of a 'real' American sport - or that it is women playing soccer?

You sound increasingly out-of-touch and yet still determined to insert your irrelevant commentary in what you call a 'frivolous' thread.
