GOPer wants FBI probe of Rupert Murdoch
Source: Politico

By SEUNG MIN KIM | 7/13/11 1:58 PM EDT Updated: 7/13/11 4:01 PM EDT

New York Republican Pete King is calling on the FBI to investigate whether Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation hacked into the voicemail accounts of Sept. 11 victims, calling the allegations of the scandal “disgraceful.”

“As I see it, I would expect more things to be coming out over the next several weeks,” King told POLITICO. “And as we approach 9/11, the tenth anniversary, it’s even going to get worse.”

King said in the letter, addressed to FBI Director Robert Mueller, that the journalists should face felony charges if the allegations are proven true.

“It is revolting to imagine that members of the media would seek to compromise the integrity of a public official for financial gain in the pursuit of yellow journalism,” wrote King, who is also chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

2. Note the framing, "journalists, members of the media".
Keep the focus on the little guys.

the little guy is going to take the fall when he can't to the top and promise to testify?

The Daily Mirror aka The Moron has already claimed that News of the World reporters attempted to bribe a New York police officer for access to the phone :

But as the pressure builds, this may change. The Daily Mirror has already claimed that News of the World reporters attempted to bribe a New York police officer for access to the phone records of victims of the September 11 attacks. If this is substantiated, it will have far-reaching repercussions in the US. Republican politicians in particular have close ties to Murdoch because of his Fox News network, but it is unlikely that this would take priority over their commitment to terror victims and war veterans. http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/the-staggers/2011/07/news-corp-murdoch-practices.

To get to the truth he just needs to find the NY policeman. I'm sure The Moron will help him.

And btw - it is felt unlikely that Associated Newspapers and Trinity Group who own The Moron were not up to exactly the same stunts in general as News International are alleged to have been.

15. Kinda remind me of
Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country

Certain members of the Federation and Klingons came together to stop the alliance between the two. Finally Capt. Kirk and crew alongwith Capt. Sulu were able to save the Prez and expose the plot. One of the members of the Federation who was involved, Admiral Cartwright signaled Kirk's crew to arrest the culprits, in saying "arrest them" the crewperson's response was "arrest yourself"

Rep. King is pointing fingers away from himself.

8. House Homeland Security chairman wants investigation of News Corp.
Source: The Hill

By Gautham Nagesh - 07/13/11 04:29 PM ET

House Homeland Security Committee chairman Peter King (R-N.Y.) wrote to the FBI on Wednesday asking them to investigate allegations of bribery and wiretapping against News Corp., making him the first Republican lawmaker to call for a probe.

King wrote to FBI director Robert Mueller after reports that News Corp. subsidiary News of the World solicited a New York police officer to gain access to the private phone records of 9/11 victims from the days leading up to the attacks. News Corp. shuttered the paper on Sunday amid the growing scandal.

"It is revolting to imagine that members of the media would seek to compromise the integrity of a public official for financial gain in the pursuit of yellow journalism," King wrote.

"The 9/11 families have suffered egregiously, but unfortunately they remain vulnerable against such unjustifiable parasitic strains. We can spare no effort or expense in continuing our support for them." ...

Three More Senators Join Call for News Corp. Hacking Probe
Ray Gustini 4:33 PM ET Comments

Three more Democratic senators have joined West Virginia Senator Jay Rockefeller's call for an investigation into News Corp.'s dealings in the United States and whether the News of the World phone hacks may have violated American laws.

Along with Rockefeller, Barbara Boxer and Frank Lautenberg sent "two separate letters" to the Justice Department and the SEC in which they "raised questions about possible violations of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, an antibribery law that U.S. authorities have enforced with vigor in recent years," according to The Wall Street Journal. ProPublica's Jake Bernstein previously explained how bribes to U.K. cops would have violated this law ...

9. Does Peter King realize that
without News Corp he and the rest of the Repukes probably would never had been elected? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

16. The Republicans know that they have to be all over this
and distance themselves from Murdoch as much as they can.

This is totally self serving on King's part, and that's fine by me, as long as it gets done.

19. Any 'investigation' will be handled like the 911 "investigation."
GOPigs have to act like they "care." They will hide and destroy evidence. Perhaps Ailes will soon "own" fox.

The time is now to demand a REAL investigation. Otherwise, they will twist things to their advantage. Again.

And we'll get fucked over. Again.
