WASHINGTON — A television president honored Ben Nelson, the real-life senator from Nebraska, on Tuesday during a Capitol Hill rally to promote federal funding for drug courts.
Martin Sheen, who played President Josiah "Jed" Bartlet on TV's "The West Wing," thanked Nelson, a Democrat, for his support of the programs that divert nonviolent offenders away from jail and into treatment.
