Kerry to Launch Overtime Protest Over Web
http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Politics/ap20030803_593.html

"For more than 60 years, the 40-hour work week and overtime pay have protected workers from exploitation and rewarded hard work," the text, provided Sunday to The Associated Press, said. "But under the radar screen, while everyone's attention was focused elsewhere, George Bush has launched a sneak attack on basic worker rights."

Kerry was launching the petition drive after a private meeting with leaders of the largest union representing state workers, an important player in Democratic politics in the state where precinct caucuses will launch the presidential nominating season next January.

3. Why I thought....
it was Tricky Dicky Gephardt who was the friend of the worker? Why didn't he take this activist approach and launch and Internet petition against the changes in overtime laws?

Oh that would take away from his getting millions of dollars from the same unions he screwed over by not being present to vote against the rules changes on July 10.

You go Kerry! :) Actions mean everything. Words mean very little. To the best of my knowledge I have not actually heard Gephardt come out and say explicitly that he is AGAINST the rules changes that would deny millions of Americans (MOST of whom are NOT in a union) the right to overtime pay.

Where does Tricky Dicky stand on this issue?
