1. US media pushed Debka's "proof coming" rather than actual news

Niger demands formal exoneration of Bush's Iraq-uranium allegation
By Associated Press, 8/3/2003 10:39

NIAMEY, Niger (AP) Niger's president demanded the U.N. nuclear agency exonerate it of any claims it had any uranium dealings with Iraq, a widely discounted accusation included in President Bush state of the union address. Ahead of the U.S.-led of invasion of Iraq, Bush said British intelligence possessed a document showing that Iraq had approached Niger to obtain uranium. The claim was used to suggest Iraq was pursuing a nuclear weapons program. U.N. officials have called the document a forgery, and Bush administration officials have since said it should not have been cited in the president's speech. ''This affair represents nothing other than accusations without foundation,'' Niger President Mamadou Tandja said in a televised address late Saturday in the arid West African nation. The Vienna-based U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency should ''publicly wash Niger of all suspicions before the U.N. Security Council,'' Tandja declared.

Niger's president Mamadou Tandja, yesterday rejected the allegation by the US and Britain, which had formed part of their justification for war on Saddam Hussein. Tandja has demanded that the International Atomic Energy Agency, which he said had cleared his country of all suspicion at the United Nations, exonerate Niger of any claims that it had any uranium dealings with Iraq. According to reports in the British newspaper, Sunday Telegraph, Herman Cohen, a former US assistant secretary of state for Africa, last week called on Tandja in Niger's capital of Niamey, to relay Washington's message for Niger to keep out of the uranium row. The paper quoted senior Niger government officials.

3. Clearly there is something to this, why else would they "all of a
sudden" be able to do their jobs, at least more so then before.

4. that's a must-read
That's an incredible read, if it's true.

Among the many surprising revelations: that terrorists will go after American right wing Christian fundies like Pat Robertson, et al. This part is toward the end.

The news management sounds right to me. I had experience with the three major news networks when I worked in broadcast research. They have always issued memos like this about how they will cover the news and it's only a short step from discussing how they'll cover a news topic to news management.

In the end, the proof is in what you see on other credible news pages around the world vs what you see in the U.S. If this standard is taken into account, there should be little surprise that these memos are no yellowcake.

5. Makes Me Wonder
There was mention in one of the memos of the importance to black out certain info on what some in the Administration were thinking *in advance* of a possible future project.

I begin to wonder that it wasn't a coincidence ABC news had a big story on Operation Northwoods just in advance to 9/11.

9. The reporting of Operation Northwoods
by ABC right before 911 roused by suspicion immediately. I was never able to convince myself it was a coincidence.

If this story of the memos and the press is true, Bush is in trouble. The things done by this administration are much worse than the things the Nixon administration did.

I see signs that some of the press will no longer cooperate with BushCo. That is our only hope.

As Cher said, "That's an incredible read, if it's true."

On edit> Guess this is bogus. I stand corrected.

6. Author of this piece is a crackpot
Look at this: http://www.propagandamatrix.com/henry_makow.html

    THE (HOMO) SEXUAL REVOLUTION

The 1950's-60's sexual revolution was designed to destroy family and morality by turning heterosexuals into
    homosexuals.

As I have described elsewhere (http://www.savethemales.ca/091101.html) the Rockefellers have long promoted eugenics and population control. They funded the fraudulent Kinsey Report that encouraged homosexual
behavior. This led to the media- hyped Hugh Hefner and Helen Gurley Brown who retailed promiscuity and mocked marriage. http://www.savethemales.ca/130103.html

Heterosexuality is not a sexual preference. It is the natural life cycle, characterized by marriage and family. This is the way we grow.

Homosexuality is arrested development caused by inability to form a permanent bond with a member of the opposite sex. This is usually due to overbearing mother, distant father, or sexual abuse as a youth.

Generally homosexual relationships are distinguished by a desperate quest for love through sexual gratification. They tend to be short term and numerous. Gay writer Andrew Webb says the dominant homosexual
ideology regards "unfettered sex as the defining feature of gay identity." Gay relationships he says "are a joke and rarely monogamous." http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2001/0111.webb.html

Increasingly this ailment has inflicted heterosexuals too. The (homo) sexual revolution has crippled our ability to bond. Feminism (which is lesbian at heart) has emasculated men and taught women to fear men and usurp their identity.

Here's his web site: http://www.savethemales.ca/

I don't know anything about tbrnews.org, but I would be highly skeptical of anything this lunatic references.

10. I read the whole TBR archive......
....of excerpts of memos allegedly leaked to them by a media source who thinks government management of the news is too dangerous.

Several stick out particularly:

(June 18) Now it appears that the faked (call them ‘inaccurate’) reports about Saddam’s purchase of enriched uranium will not go away. The White House hopes that Muslim terrorists will commit some atrocity, preferably in the United States, so as to deflect rising negative attitudes on the part of the electorate…although no one has said it, such an attack(s) would not be surprising. ...

(July 14) Happy talk at the Pentagon about a universal draft is fading away. No chance of this disaster even being broached and it should not be mentioned at all. It is doubtful that the White House will touch this one now…There is a growing fear in counter intelligence circles that if the resistance movement in Iraq is not stopped, the resulting very bad PR might cause an “incident” somewhere in the US just before election time to whip the voters up to vote for Bush as a “wartime leader” who can put a number of draconian laws and edicts in place to “protect the American people.” Someone in the FBI said to one of our people, entirely off the record, that quote it will probably be the Statue of Liberty endquote. There must be no speculation on this subject under any circumstances. If some rigged incident does happen and we comment on it in advance, new regulations could cause us serious problems …If this happens, it will be Rumsfeld who plans and executes it. This will give the President the usual deniability. It is more than likely that we will get some advance notice of such an action and then decisions can be made relative to going to the public. On one hand, it would be a magnificent media coup guaranteeing ratings off the chart and on the other, a death sentence…

(July 17) The White House is now moving into a bunker mentality, very much like Nixon during the end of the Watergate business. With mounting Iraqi opposition and facing a very capable guerrilla movement, supplied by Syria and Russia, the US has run into the stone wall we all predicted. His personality will not permit the President to withdraw in good order; the neocons and the oil people will simply not let him. Bush is stuck between the rock and the proverbial hard place…serious growing unrest in the troops coupled with very low morale, growing death tolls, lack of rotation, real fear of being fatally attacked are all leading to a situation that our Pentagon source informs us could actually erupt into open mutiny. Couple all of this with the terrible economy, the insistence of the Bush people on insane tax cuts (to help out corporate America), the obvious right wing political and religious fanatics supporting the President and we have the makings of serious, probably fatal, domestic problems. The fear is that a frantic Administration could connive at some kind of domestic terrorism if and when they perceive the President slumping badly in the polls. He already is and it looks like it might go like the economy. Today, a 65% favorite; tomorrow matching Davis’ 20%.

Hey, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
