No More 'Minutes' For Clinton/Dole


August 4, 2003


The "60 Minutes" Clinton/Dole - or Dole/Clinton - segments, which began airing in March, are kaput. CBS News has officially pulled the plug on the mini-debate segments featuring former President Bill Clinton and former Sen. Bob Dole.

1. Good!! Those segments were an insult to Clinton - he should be above
that. Dole is not an ex-president, he's not on Clinton's level.

2. Also, it was almost embarrassing to watch Bob Dole.
I don't know if they spoke their own words or had them written for them but Bob's never seemed thought through or even delivered well.

I really don't like those two-term presidents, either. BTW, as soon as we get a nominee he'll become the party's standard-bearer.

Saying its not equal because Dole is not a former president is kinda unfair, there are only 3 living republican former presidents. 1 is dying of Alzheimers (Reagan), I is was never elected to national offic and therefore also does not meet your high standards (Ford), and the other while pretty smart, was never a good debater and also generally refuses to throw barbs at Clinton (Bush), so they were all outta options.
