i think humanity is more threatened by overcrowding, so by his logic gay marraiges are a perfect solution.

1. World population is high anyway, with the vast increase in the population occurring in the last few hundred years.

2. It's increasing hugely and will put a massive strain on natural resources in the next few hundred years.

So there IS NO WORRY about keeping the human race going....

3. It's WAR that threatens the existence of the race.

4. Gay people aren't going to turn around and say "Oh well, if I can't get married I may as turn straight and raise an army of children", which is presumeably what Howard would like.

OK, it's just a stupid statement, but I reject any suggestion that Howard is as stupid as, or stupider than, Bush. What you have to remember is that BUSH doesn't like gay marriage, and Howard is as big an arselicker as anyone known.
Incidentally, the only reason Australia's population isn't going backwards is immigration, so he would seem to have a point there, until you contrast that with our treatment of refugees. If population is such a problem, why are we rejectng these people who want to live here so much, they're self-delivered?
