Cheney accused of smear campaign by ambassador
The former ambassador Joe Wilson yesterday accused Vice-President Dick Cheney and his senior officials of launching a smear campaign against him and of illegally identifying his wife as an undercover intelligence officer in an apparent act of revenge. In doing so they "betrayed America's national security".

Mr Wilson said that in the spring of 2003, officials gathered in Mr Cheney's office and a decision was taken to discredit him over his view that allegations that Iraq was seeking to buy uranium for nuclear weapons were false. His wife's identity and her position as a covert CIA operative were later leaked to a right-wing newspaper columnist.

"According to a number of sources there was a meeting held in the office of the Vice-President, chaired by either the Vice-President or more likely his chief of staff "Scooter" Libby in which the decision was made to do a 'work-up' on me," he said. "They clearly came across my wife's name and decided to put name out on the street as part of a campaign to drag my wife into the public square to get at me. That's it."

The allegation by Mr Wilson has the potential to be extremely damaging to the Bush administration as the President and his deputy campaign for re-election. The leaking of an intelligence officer's identity is a criminal offence and the matter is currently being investigated by a team of FBI officers headed by an outside prosecutor.

1. Nope, Media Whores wont touch it with a billion dollar pole.
This book I thought would get all the press, I guess not. We'll see after the "Mission Accomplished" anniversary if it holds up. I know Wilson will be on Olberman this Tuesday, have not heard what other talking heads plan to have him on. I wish they all did, this one crime is the kicker for me. I was the proof that gave us all the truth behind the BFEE all of it.

2. This is insane!
If anyone can prove that meeting happened, everyone in the room should be going to jail!

I simply cannot believe that Clinton (of whom I was never a big fan) spent years of his presidency fighting Whitewater and sexual misconduct scandals and shit like this goes unnoticed and uninvestigated.

Satan, thy name is Bush.

6. Cheney did everything he could to avoid the military service
To me the telling sign is when a man goes from an Ivy League school to a community college as Dick did in Casper, Wyoming. I'm curious to know what classes he took.

9. Scooter Libby is PNAC, as is the TinMan...
That alone should be enough to justify "trials"...

(can't say what I'd like to see as the end result of those trials, don't wanna make Agent Mike work too hard, but Treason *IS* a Capital Offense, no?)
