Record income at Chevron-Texaco
ChevronTexaco, the second-biggest oil and gas company in the US, on Friday reported record first-quarter net income - $2.56bn, or $2.40 a share, up 33 per cent on the year.

The record figures continue a trend among the company's peers. The industry has profited from high oil and natural gas prices, as well as increased demand and better margins for refined products and chemicals.

"All of ChevronTexaco's business segments were better than we had modelled," said Michael Mayer at Prudential Financial. He had forecast earnings per share of $2.05, and the consensus estimate of analysts was $2.02 per share.

1. And to think they just stopped their support for the Met Opera
radio broadcasts after 64 years of uninterrupted underwriting. I guess the $3MM per year they donated to the Met was better spent on corporate lunches and memberships at elitist golf courses for the top suits.

Fuckers.

4. Laws on the books are meaningless without enforcement,...
,...and I think we can all agree that laws such as these are rarely enforced.

5. Condie's done her job for Chevron!
It's so wonderfully patriotic of these folks as our troops don't have the fuel they need, truckers are having to block freeways because they can't afford to operate, people spent a cold winter shivering because they couldn't afford fuel oil...
