Westerners 'shot in Saudi Arabia'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3675891.stm

1 May, 2004

US and British diplomats are checking reports that a number of Western expatriates have been shot in the city of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia.

Militants in three cars are said to have shot at several Western shops and surrounded a hotel.

"We are looking into reports that Westerners have been killed or injured in a shooting," the UK embassy said.

Story developing. More soon.

2. Dangerous.
Is the House of Saud approaching a fall? And if it fails, what then comes for the Middle East?

19. No, it isn't
The House of Saud is very much in control - it isn't popular, but its stronger than it pretends to be. That being said, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Pakistan are the three most dangerous countries in the world. Why aren't we dealing with them, instead of blowing money, lives, credibility and time in Iraq?

20. Thanks for the insights.
As for the insanity in Iraq - I have no idea why we're there, unless it's oil.

now that the world is getting to see for themselves how brutally we treated the Iraqis.

7. Well look how the big wigs in DC talked about these people.
When the Churches, and men in power talk it all up that these people are just about sub-human because they are not Christians and do not like the West you get men who go over their thinking like that and this is the results. Bush has only his want to get elected to blame for this . His crusade was something he meant, even if he pulled the word back.

6. US Casualties in Saudi Suicide Bombing
Here's a little more info from the Scotsman

http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=2864499

A number of Americans were among the casualties of a suicide attack today in a north-western city in Saudi Arabia, a US Embassy official said.

Diplomats said the bomber and a second suspected terrorist were killed.

?Americans are among the victims,? the official said, without providing further details on their condition.

The Embassy official said the US consulate in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah was following up the issue with Saudi authorities.

The attack took place in Yanbu, along the Red Sea coast, 220 miles north-east of Jeddah.

9. 3 militants dead, 1 injured...no info on how many workers were killed
~snip~
The militants entered the building, opened fire on the workers, then detonated a car bomb after Saudi security forces based in compound chased them, the ministry said.

An informed source said two of the militants were killed when they detonated the car bomb; a third was shot and killed by Saudi authorities; and the fourth was shot and wounded by authorities and arrested.

The ministry confirmed that three of the militants were killed and the other was injured and arrested.

The ministry did not have an exact casualty figure on how many workers were killed and wounded in Saturday's attack.

15. Thinks someone might be sending
someone a message?

I remember when Saudia Arabia was relatively safe.

This means that the ruling families can no longer control the situation. That's what they get for supporting and financing terrorism. Too bad.

17. I'm surprised no car or suicide bombs at those refineries,...yet.
After reading Robert Baer's, "Sleeping With the Devil",...I thought to myself that doing a kaboom to those refineries wasn't matter of "if" but rather "when".
