Laura Bush Leads Rally for Troops in Fla.
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) - First lady Laura Bush thanked servicemembers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan for their dedication, telling nearly 150 soldiers recently returned from fighting that they have the nation's support.

Speaking at a rally before about 5,000 central Florida residents, Bush said the troops are the face of American compassion abroad.

``You will have more impact on people than you can ever know,'' said Bush, who was joined by her brother-in-law, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and acting Army Secretary Les Brownlee.

Violence continued in Iraq on Saturday, exactly a year after President Bush stood aboard an aircraft carrier a declared that major combat in Iraq had ended. A U.S. soldier was killed when a rocket-propelled grenade hit his convoy, the military said. A second soldier died Saturday of wounds suffered the day before.

2. Since when are our troups "the face of American compassion?
This quote by Laura Bush is as stupid as the idea of compassionate conservatism. The faces that the world are the ones attatched to the upturned thumbs of the abusers in Bagdad. And what could be more compassionate than a cluster bomb or a helecopter. War may at times be a nessary evil, but it is never an act of compassion. Every time these people speak they are sounding sicker and sicker. How is the best way to get the anti war message through to Kerry?

11. How do they figure they have the face of American compassion?
And what is this??

"This is a slice of Norman Rockwell," said U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Florida. "This is a small token of love and appreciation of what they've done."

Slice of Norman Rockwell???? Too bad Norman Rockwell isn't alive to tell them to go puke.

4. Time to send the B* girls compassionately over
to Iraq to do their part. As Dad says, it's been a tough time over there. "We" need to sacrifice. What do you say, Dad? Are you ready to put your flesh and blood where your mouth is? Are you finally ready to serve with the rest of the troops in the line of danger?

I'm sorry. I should have given those questions to you in advance so that you could have prepared an answer.

5. A bizarrely inappropriate speech, given this week's news
"You will have more impact on people than you can ever know,'' said Bush"

A shame Ms. England and friends wouldn't didn't have Laura's sage advise a year ago.

6. more impact?
like shoving a broomstick where the sun doesn't shine on a prisoner of war (called a "detainee" so the geneva convention doesn't count)..

the IMPACT of a GUNSHIP killing one person per square foot?

Compassion?

HOW ABOUT NOT CHEATING THE VETERANS BITCH?

you want to help the troops? DIVORCE YOUR HUSBAND.

18. Maid, ay?...Made hay on May Day, May Day...May Day! May Day! May Day!
The attempt to feminize the war with the First 'Librarian' and conjure up Norman Rockwellian images of Mom and apple pie are appeals to the amygdala portion of our lizard brain that is vigilantly territorial against intruders and thinks of females as property to be fought over.

But it ain't Rockwell, it's Orwell.
