Syria criticized US presence in Iraq
http://www.hipakistan.com/en/detail.php?newsId=en63436&F_catID=&f_type=source

DAMASCUS: Syrian President Bashar Assad blasted the US invasion and occupation of neighboring Iraq as a failure, according to an interview broadcast on Arab television.

``There is no doubt that Americans have failed, this is obvious. There is no need to discuss and analyze this fact,''Assad said.

Assad said America's military mission in Iraq had failed to achieve any of its stated goals, saying ``anything but a liberation of Iraq, anything but democracy, anything but improving lives there.''

Assad's defense of anti-US attacks in Iraq comes at a time when Syrian ties with US are strained over Iraq and Washington's view that Damascus supports regional terrorism.
