Top US officers responsible for prison abuse-general
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N03531090.htm

WASHINGTON, May 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. Army general who oversaw a prison outside Baghdad where Iraqis were abused said on Monday top U.S. military officers in Iraq should be held responsible for such "despicable acts."

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski said she was not aware of the abuse at Abu Ghraib prison and was shocked by photographs aired last week by the U.S. network CBS in which U.S. soldiers were seen abusing and humiliating prisoners.

Karpinski, who oversaw 26 facilities in Iraq before leaving earlier this year as part of a rotation of U.S. forces, said that responsibility for the abuse should be shared by Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq.

Asked on ABC's "Good Morning America" whether she believed Sanchez should also be held responsible, she said, "Yes I do." She added, "There is a shared responsibility in this," She did not specify what should happen to senior military officers.

2. Sanchez is an evil little TROLL
He is the MORAN that always walks on the stage with this HUGE PISTOL strapped on over his combat Coat. Like the enemy resistance is going to come through dozens of feet of concrete and cap his sorry ass.

Fell asleep with the TV on and woke up to some sleezebags telling me how important it was to enhance "that certain part of the male anatomy".

Time to rig up a shutoff timer on the boob tube.

7. Hersh was on cnn this morning and said..
Karpinski had to know also. He had a great segment on there and really gave it to Kimmitt and Sanchez and rummy in his dignified way. He said he took them at their word that they had not read the report from the general cited in his article. He said that shows how low Human rights was on their priority list.

9. ......and the Commander In Chief must know what his Generals know
and what his Generals are doing at all times.

We all know that junior isn't convinced about WMD.

So it makes sense that junior would be pulling hair to and looking udder every rock. Rumsfeld even said we'd probably find 'em from what we learned from the Iraqis.

15. Actually I get the impression that Gen. Abizaid is a decent guy in a hard
position.

I don't think that's true of the rest of the folks on your list, though.

I have a hunch the administration is feeling that some fresh distraction is desperately needed.

14. presumably not as high as "The U.S. Army general who oversaw a prison"
Usually the guy who says "heads will roll" has in mind heads lower than his, probably an extra head or two of buffer just to be safe.

18. Amazing!
A one star general passing the buck to a superior! Unheard of!

This thing is going thru the roof, already. There is no telling how far it goes. Say, what exactly did * do when he was over there... did he visit this prison?

20. What did W do when he was over there?
The turkey took a fake turkey to a turkey dinner. You don't think Barbara's son wanted to clutter up his beautiful mind with anything as nasty as talking to soldiers about real combat or checking out a prison and seeing the real prisoners, do you?

This woman was in charge of this prison, but didn't know what was going on there? A bit incompetent, wouldn't you say? She's going to be on Deborah Norville's show tonight, according to the newsmodels on MSNBC. 9 PM EDT. Sounds like must-see TV.

21. Actually, what I was thinking was
* may have heard of the party going down in the prison and may have wanted in on the action.

Seems to be that all the big boys, rummy, et al, had paid their respects to the show, and I was just wondering if the boy-king wanted in on the action.
