Bush attacks Kerry's foreign "mystery men"

Tue May 4, 3:52 PM ET

LEBANON, United States (AFP) - US President George W. Bush (news - web sites) remarked that his Democratic rival for the White House, Senator John Kerry (news - web sites), has foreign "mystery men" supporters -- but no real world leaders behind him.

"He claims to have picked up some important endorsements from foreign leaders," Bush said. "Whoever these mystery men are, they will not be deciding this election."

37. Don't hold your breath
It would require more than nerve: he'd have to drop certain Bush-lite positions, such as corporate taxes and the war. Tell his campaign that you'd like to see that.

Unless and until Kerry stakes out progressive positions, he's going to play at safe.

And that's not going to win.

39. As long as Junior is putting out fires by throwing gas on the flames...
...Kerry doesn't have to do anything.

Some DUers are just never happy.

First, they complained when Kerry was "too outspoken" because they believe that "negative campaigning" will lead to defeat.

Second, they complain when Kerry doesn't respond quickly enough to every nitpicking little snit from Junior.

In fact, they were saying the same things about Gore in 2000.

Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

Here's the deal, voltaire...who are YOU going to vote for in 2004?

By the way, Kerry showed more courage during his days aboard the Swift Boats than most Americans will ever get the opportunity to demonstrate. What's YOUR claim to fame?

And saying so will get you flamed by many here who cannot face the obvious. He backs an obviously unwinnable war started by a massive GOP lying campaign. That just makes me ill. If he remains outside of the spotlight much more People will start forgetting what he looks like. Grow some balls Kerry, sheesh. Ditch the Gephardt, Daschel Milquetoast bunch and grow a pair before its too late. GOD HELP US IF MONKEYBOY COMES BACK FOR ANOTHER !!!

13. either heavy drugs or alcohol causes that 'mystery men' feeling

it continues to amaze me that the deranged chimp is in charge....

of course, as the current bus tour proves...the REAL leaders go to extreme lengths to get the chimp out of town when HUGE international crisis are going on....like, during the recent complete failure of bush* entire ME crusade, blow-out of the Israel policy failure, American soldiers torturing and killing Iraqis in pornographic sexual slasher photos.....

the chimp remains out of town on a little blue tour bus, manufactured by French-Canadians....the chimp mainly talks about Kerry's "mystery men" in the past few days of his administration's increasing graphic exploding moral bankrupcy....amazing...

20. It would be dishonorable for Kerry to reveal the identity of someone
who has communicated with him in confidence. And the entire world knows that neither Bush nor Cheney, each being totally without honor, would hesitate for one second to breach such a confidence. This entire incident and the juvenile harping about it by Bush and Cheney says much more about them and their supporters than about Kerry. It just would never occur to Bush or Cheney or any of their supporters that there is something wrong with doing dishonorable things.

Edited on Tue May-04-04 07:37 PM by drfemoe
WASHINGTON, 5 May 2004 — More than 50 US former diplomats, many high ranking, have criticized the US policy in the Middle East in a letter addressed to President George W Bush. The diplomats, who include former ambassadors to Arab countries in the region, said they were “deeply concerned” by Bush’s April 14 endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s unilateral plan that rejected the rights of three million Palestinians, and retained five large “illegal settlement blocs” in the occupied West Bank.

The text of the letter follows.

Dear Mr. President:

We former US diplomats applaud our 52 British counterparts who recently sent a letter to Prime Minister Tony Blair criticizing his Middle East policy and calling on Britain to exert more influence over the United States. As retired foreign service officers we care deeply about our nation’s foreign policy and US credibility in the world. At the request of our government and military colleagues, we have added their names as well.

We also are deeply concerned by your April 14 endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s unilateral plan to reject the rights of three million Palestinians, to deny the right of refugees to return to their homeland, and to retain five large illegal settlement blocs in the occupied West Bank.
...
Sincerely,

Andrew Killgore, ambassador to Qatar, 1977-1980; Richard Curtiss, chief inspector, US Information Agency; Thomas Carolan, consul general, Turkey, 1988-1992; C.
