Defense claims prosecution witness guilty of same offenses

BOISE, Idaho -- Attorneys for the University of Idaho graduate student accused of using computers to foster terrorism said Wednesday that a government witnesses in his trial did the same things as their client.
Sami Omar Al-Hussayen, a 34-year-old Saudi national, is accused of turning the main Web site of the Islamic Assembly of North America into the foundation for an Internet network to help finance and recruit terrorists. He is also charged with visa fraud and making false statements to hide his association with the Michigan-based assembly.
Al-Hussayen's attorneys argued that government witness Mohammed Aleem's company, Tjara Networks Co., maintains an Internet site carrying the same kind of material Al-Hussayen is accused of promoting.
