Religious Networks Broadcasting Bush's(*) White House Prayer Event
Religious Networks Broadcasting Bush's White House Prayer Event

By Deb Riechmann Associated Press Writer
Published: May 6, 2004

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush appealed to evangelical Christians in a National Day of Prayer ceremony Thursday that religious networks were broadcasting coast-to-coast.

"At so many crucial points in the life of America, we have been a nation at prayer," Bush said, recalling that Abraham Lincoln had called the country to prayer in the darkest days of the Civil War and that Franklin Roosevelt led U.S. citizens in prayer 60 years ago when U.S. and British troops invaded German-occupied France.

Some academic specialists on religion and politics - and some advocates of a stark division between church and state - suggested the Republicans were using the 53rd annual National Day of Prayer to give the GOP an edge in the November election.

"This event has very strong underpinnings of partisan support for the president, and that's what it's designed to do," said Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. "It's not like he is ignoring other religious groups, but he knows that this day is the one where he signals 'I am an evangelical Christian. Remember that in November.'"

soon find themselves bereft of the president's "wisdome and his spiritualist" approach that is based upon NOTHING at all.

Meanwhile, more than 750 of our young have died in this rush to kill,

In a war that has been billed, on the part of
a stupid man who actually, it seems, as one that does not seem to understand one iota of foreign policy because the stupid leader who is in over his head, is, well , he is too stupid and dumb to recognize his own role in this analysis.

He is and will be content to pull out with his riches increased (due to his politicies, of course)

Bush is, so blatantly acting for the photo ops that he , in his zest to look honest and pious, adopts an obviously pious "face" for the camera--and he thinks that act will cement his support with the religious right

maybe it will, but it will also turn off the other "Christinians" who do not accept this religion of Bush as the determinator of who is a "real" hristian

as if any can determine that for themselves without having the suggestin be thrown at them by the many new tecnologies that cazn do it as long as one survives and estabolishes oneself as an up and coming
ceo who will be making thirty mil a year for his, and I do mean "his" efforts.

If Bush claims to be a devout, Christian, well then he is and no one for the past three and a half years has
EVER challenged him on that. No matter what atrocities he has committed, NOT A SINGLE
So goes the politics when a belief in an imaginary sky god is so involved in the politics of an extraordinarily diverse country, that it can arbitrarily declare itself the officila religion of this

2. I remember that he brings partisan religion into the White House.
There's a ring in Hell for that.

3. I'm getting real sick of this religion/religious being shoved down
my throat day after day. Personally I don't give a
damn what ones religion is, all I ask is "keep it
in your own home and your own church". I do "NOT"
appreciate "current resident" spewing his BS for
three hours on any network, satellite, CBN, or
anywhere else....Keep it in his church and his
apartment in the wh, and shut the hell up!!!!
