5. wait a minute - How can he form an "independent" panel?
Edited on Thu May-06-04 09:29 PM by yellowcanine
If Rummy forms the panel by definition it is not "independent" - The whole chain of command needs to be investigated and he is in the chain of command. When will the pubbies in congress stand up and say - no thank you - we want a truly independent investigation this time?

it sounds just about right. The fox guarding the henhouse. Whatcha want to bet that Kissinger will be head of his panel? I certainly hope the Dems don't roll over and play dead on this one!

6. Well, imagine that. Like I'm surprised. Now rummy, who was just there
not long ago, is going to start an investigation into something I have absolutely no doubt that he knew was going on.

Here comes the cover up and the new big lie.

9. This is the best they could come up with?
"Thursday morning, Rumsfeld canceled a planned speech in Philadelphia to focus on his Friday testimony. He met Thursday morning with four Republican members of the Senate Armed Service Committee."

Independent panel, what a crock.

11. Oh, bullshit.
He's going to form a committee-NOW? This has been kicking around (and he AND W knew it, too) since last year, and NOW he's gonna "get right on it"? Bullshit. Didn't Rummy have breakfast with a bunch of high-level Repubs this morning? Was this their big nugget of advice?
Why do all of them keep saying "let's wait for reports to come in before we jump to conclusions about this"? I thought the report WAS in, and Seymour Hirsch did a huge expose`about it. This report was only 55 pages long. How could Rummy and Myers not have read it? Why has Wolfowitz not read it? Why does everyone keep letting them get away with this shit? They leave fingerprints on NOTHING.

I can just imagine how tomorrow is going to go: Rummy will come in and give a charming little speech. Then the Dems will ask the hard questions, the Repubs will thank him effusively for his service to the country, kiss his ass, apologize for the questions that those mean ol' Dems are asking, and nothing will really get done. What a joke. What a foreign policy and human rights disaster this is.

17. Alert! Rumsfeld turns himself in!
Washington D.C. - Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld turned himself in to Federal Marshals today. A spokesperson for the Marshals Department said there would be no comment until it could be determined what Mr. Rumsfeld had turned himself in for.
"There are no outstanding warrants or subpeonas, so we are not quite certain at this time what we will do with him", said Deputy Marshal Yvonne McDonald.

An attornery claiming to represent Secretary Rumsfeld sent a faxed press release to several news sources in which he claimed Rumsfeld encouraged a full and fair investigation, no matter how long it took, and that Mr. Rumsfeld would agree to be detained at Guantanamo Bay Detention Center until such time as a resolution could be determined. Mr. Rumsfeld was overheard saying to the Deputy Marshall on duty at the Marshals field office in Alexandria, " Do you have any of those chemical light thingys?"

19. maybe they can just flip the 9/11 panel over to new duty . . .
after their mandate runs out . . . which is pretty soon, if memory serves me right (thanks again to Chairman Kaga) . . . would save time, and you'd have a group already devoted to preordained outcomes . . .

20. You know, Crummy, you could start by calling it the war crime probe panel
Edited on Fri May-07-04 02:00 AM by Solly Mack
follow that up by recusing yourself from picking the panel, and then finish up by resigning from office.....you could also skip the 1st and 2 nd parts and just resign.

22. :sigh: another "investigation" of the weasels, by the weasels
and for the weasels to investigate the weasels...

any bets that this "investigation" won't get off the ground until after November 2004? and any "report" won't be released until....ummm..after November 2006?

Questions:

1. any bets that bush* (aka The Fertilizer) will say that he is calling for full WH cooperation with the investigation?

2. How long will The Fertilizer be able to dodge release of documents and still be able to claim that he's cooperating?

3. at what point during the "investigtion" will The Fertilizer claim executive priviledge or similar excuse to NOT release documents and/or attempt to prevent testimony?

4. will The Fertilizer and Crashcart appear together to give testimony? Not under oath, no transcription, no recording of any kind?

23. BULLSHIT!!!!!
The Dems talk the talk but when it comes to really representing the American people they don't walk the walk. Most of them slop at the same Oligarchy trough that their counterparts slop out of.

"Then the Dems will ask the hard questions."

The Dems will lightly toss nerf balls.

24. You know what? Let the bastards drag this out.
Really. Let them drag it all the way out to Halloween. Strategically, if Rumsfeld gets fired then moderates are going to look at it as proof that Bush is doing the right thing (which he would be) ...but they'll have amnesia about the last 3 years.
