Explosion Rocks Karachi

KARACHI, Pakistan — A powerful bomb exploded at a Shiite Muslim mosque inside a religious school in this southern port city on Friday, killing five people and wounding at least 35, police and witnesses said.



The attack occurred shortly after 1 p.m., the hour of Friday prayers, said Tariq Jamil, a senior police investigator. He gave no other details and the motive was not immediately clear.

Another police officer on the scene, Sanaullah Abassi, said five people were killed and 35 injured. An Associated Press reporter saw at least one body inside the mosque.

Witnesses said they saw four ambulances ferrying the wounded from the scene. Police and ambulance officials said several of the wounded were in critical condition.

Khalid Sheik Mohammed (assumed 9-11 mastermind, now imprisoned) was once a member, but quickly got out. Osama bin Laden hates them with a vengeance, if memory serves. It may be a four-way race between the Shia, the ISI, the CIA and Al Qaeda to see who gets them first. My money's on Al Qaeda. Makes it hard to wage a global jihad when some of the faithful are attacking their brothers!

Lets hope they are all brought to justice. Preferably in the Hague, with Bush as co-defendant.

KARACHI (Reuters) - A suspected suicide bomber blew up a crowded Shi'ite mosque in the business district of the southern Pakistani city of Karachi on Friday, killing at least 13 people and wounding more than 80, police and officials said.

More than 100 people were packed into the mosque for Friday afternoon prayers when the blast rocked the building in the fourth bomb attack in five days in Pakistan, a frontline state in the U.S.-led war on terror.

The mosque was badly damaged. Pools of blood dotted the floor and spattered the walls and pieces of flesh were scattered on the ground.

Karachi police chief Tariq Jamaeel said at least 13 people were killed and more than 80 wounded. Rohena Hasan, a doctor at the state-run Civil Hospital said more than 20 were in intensive care.
