Sharon's Deputy Says All Gaza Settlements Will Go

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon intends to evacuate all Jewish settlers from Gaza, his deputy said on Friday, hardening a pledge to pursue a historic pullout rejected by his own Likud party.

Asked by Israeli Army Radio if Sharon still intended to evacuate all Gaza settlements, Vice Premier Ehud Olmert said: "Correct."

"Do you think if he pulls out of only 10 settlements (dissenting ministers)... will say they support the plan?" Olmert asked.

Amid the discord in Jerusalem over Sharon's plan to "disengage" unilaterally from the Palestinians, heavy fighting erupted with Hizbollah guerrillas near the border with Lebanon.
