that never receives a qualitative answer..instead Rumy refers back to the questeion posed by Sen. Reed.

Rumy cannot contain this firestorm. Gen Myers let the cat out of the bag when he said the President was informed in late Jan/Feb of the abuse!

44. Kerry made calls for Rumy's resignation today!
"Despite calls from Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) and other Democrats for resignation, no congressional Republican has called on Rumsfeld to step down. And the defense secretary drew a vote of confidence on Thursday from President Bush, who declared flatly "he'll stay in my Cabinet."

22. OK so let's get this straight
1)Rice did not know enough about 9/11 to prevent it.
2)Cheney lied about "yellow cake" that let us to war.
3)Rumsfield did not know enough to address the prison scandal adequately.
4)No Osama, wrong on mission accomplished,
5)Fire the General that was right about the number of troops needed.
6)Wrong on the amount of money the tax payers will pay for the war

90% of the world think we are wrong and arrogant and think that * is as evil as Saddam and he is leading in the polls. How in God's name can any sane person want this idiot to continue leading this country and think we are safer? Maybe if the fucking asshole spent more time in Washington doing his job instead of vacationing and fund raising we wouldn't be where we are today, of course that would be totally against what this administration wants. What a sad scenario, is this the future of our once great nation? I cry for my children and grandchildren if this idiot get elected.

11. I had nbc on..
When the hearing closed, Brian Williams gave a brief recap. He failed to include any of the omissions Rumy made when addressing Sens Reed and Clinton's questions.

Some of the Republicans seem to be bent on getting to the Truth...Sen. Grahm come to mind. However, from what I've heard so far...The Rethugs by and large are closing ranks to protect Rumy as best they can.

When Rumy was asked when he alerted the President of the abuses, he alluded to a communication he sent to the president making note of the torture of Iraqi prisoners..

We need to see that communication.

Some Dem has to subpoena any and all records of communication between the President and Rumsfeld concerning the photos depicting the abuse and torture of the Iraqi prisoners.

19. I don't want him to resign!
Because I think it would go the way of Trent Lott. Get rid of one fall-guy, and Bush and Cheney stay clean, once again. They toss Rumsfeld to the lions, he goes on to have a fat contract with the companies running the war, and he's no worse off than before.. in actuality, he'd be less constrained by govermental authority then. I'd rather see that ass stay in his job, and see BUSH and CHENEY answer for this!!! They KNEW what was happening, once again, and LIED about it.. as though Bush had JUST heard about it.

DO any of us REALLY believe that Rumsfeld and Bush and Cheney were out of the loop on this? THat the IRC would have done these investigations and reports and they NEVER saw the light of day with the top people. Bullshit. Rumsfeld should stay, and he and Bush and Cheney need to face the music together. No falling on the sword for the BFEE

26. This should help him decide..
RANGEL INTRODUCES IMPEACHMENT ARTICLES AGAINST RUMSFELD

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.), a lead critic of the Bush administration's policy in Iraq, introduced eight articles of impeachment Thursday against Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld amid Congressional outrage over the Pentagon's handling of charges of prison abuse by U.S. soldiers.

“I think that this rises to the point that it’s a high crime and misdemeanor if he disappointed the president, kept information from the Congress and kept this information from the American people,” Rangel said on the House floor.

Among the prospective charges against Rumsfeld included in the Rangel’s impeachment measure are that the Defense chief “contributed to an atmosphere of lawlessness” that permitted the abuses to take place, and “abdicated his role” in allowing such a breakdown in discipline.

The articles also charge that Rumsfeld “urged and oversaw” the removal of Saddam Hussein under a “false premise” — namely, that the United States was under threat of “imminent” attack from weapons of mass destruction and that Iraq’s dictator was in league with al Qaeda in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

they don't think he was doing anything wrong. He was following the plan. They knew about prisoner abuse-why else do you set up a prison outside of any legal protections(I'm talking Cuba but its all the same) They are arrogant bastards who think they can do anything and get away with it(plus they are on a relgious mission and God is on their side) and if you think this is bad, you ain't seen nothing yet if they get reelected.

43. Rumy made a double edged political statement:
If you read the Yahoo link it says...Paraphrasing:

"He would resign if he thought he was ineffective at his job, but would not consider resignation from political pressure."

Well, in case he's lying, he's already demonstrated his ineffectiveness.

46. Kerry dismisses Rumsfeld's apology
Kerry Dismisses Rumsfeld's Apology

PHOENIX - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on Friday dismissed Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's apology for U.S. abuses of Iraqi prisoners and said the responsibility lies with the commander in chief.

"The chain of command goes all the way to the Oval Office," Kerry said. "Harry Truman did not say 'the buck stops at the Pentagon.'"

Although Bush apologized on Thursday for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners and Rumsfeld apologized Friday during a session with the Senate Armed Services Committee, Kerry said they should have moved far faster. The administration had to be pressured into acknowledging its responsibility, he said.

"We need a president who understands the difference between strength and stubbornness," he said.

"We should be the leaders in condemning the appalling images of abuse, not following others who showed them to us," Kerry said. "We should be the leaders in setting a standard of behavior that we talk about in the abuse that we've seen flashing across television screens all across the world. We cannot ever succeed in Iraq (news - web sites) or anywhere else on this planet by abandoning the values that define the United States of America."
