Abuse Will Make Jobs of U.S. Aid, Reconstruction Workers Tougher, Official

WASHINGTON (AP) - The abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers could make the jobs of aid workers and contractors more difficult, says the Bush administration's top official overseeing the reconstruction of Iraq.

"Iraqis saw us as a beacon of hope, and this has certainly damaged that," U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Andrew Natsios told The Associated Press.

"I hope that the Iraqi people will keep their image of America based on the thousands of people working for us, as opposed to this one set of terrible incidents in the prison," Natsios said in a Thursday interview.

The reconstruction effort already has been hampered, especially during the past month during sporadic violence and tense military standoffs between U.S. forces and Iraqi insurgents. The situation has forcing Westerners involved in local governance, community development and other projects to flee Fallujah, Najaf and other areas, Natsios said.

1. Good. Americans should find work in America and Iraqi's should be paid
for those jobs. Part of the reason the country is in turmoil is because they need jobs..however we are paying a premium to the military industrial complex to rebuild what Iraqi's could rebuild for a fucking fraction of the price.

Americans should stay the fuck home and deal with the loss of jobs here. I find it ridiculous that we outsource to foreign countries but here we have a foreign country with trained individuals that can accomplish it for a fraction of the cost and are paying a premium while keeping Iraqi's unemployed.

2. they can't afford to bring back reservists and the military
before the election..the unemployment numbers will go thru the roof.
All the employees that have filled positions while reservists are overseas will have to be laid off. Artificial employment numbers are already rampant...it will be hard to hide the facts if hundreds of thousands are suddenly thrown out of work

Hell no. Wait until after the election then we can just bring back their dead, mutilated bodies.

The sooner we get civilians out of Iraq, the better. The US is a cancer on the people of the Middle East and we need to remove the infected tumor now or the patient and the doctor will both die.

Unemployment is the least of our worries right now. What we should be really concerned about is the crisis that will very soon grip this entire nation if these criminals within the Bush administration are not relieved of command and brought before a criminal tribunal for war crimes and crimes against the Constitution as well as perjury, failure to keep their oath of office and treason.

Fuck unemployment!

3. That's what the US gets for being an arrogant prick with no balls
Forgive my candidness, but * and his ilk are the most arrogant bunch of mutherfuckers ever to have taken power and, on many levels, we're suffering for it.

The sad part is, MANY people still believe this cretin* is a saint. x(

6. Well, DUHHHHH!
The problem is, that the Iraqis DO hold their image of America based on the thousands of people working for us - THAT IS THE PROBLEM, ASSWIPE!

The Iraqi's NEVER saw us as a "beacon of hope"!

That is pure repuke bullshit.

Whatever happened to those "bouquets of flowers" we were supposed to see/get?

Dumb ass.
